New Salone Woman Organization Joins the Fight to Prevent Kush Use and Promote Wellbeing Among Addicted Youth! We are honored to announce that New Salone Woman Organization was invited by Global Youth Network for Empowerment and Development to the official launch of "It Takes a Village: Empowering Freetown Slum Communities to Prevent Kush Use and Promote Wellbeing among Addicted Youth." This transformative 15-month initiative, supported by Being Initiative – an international mental health initiative hosted by Grand Challenges Canada, in partnership with Fondation Botnar, the UK’s Department of Health and Social Care (NIHR), the Science for Africa Foundation , Orygen , and United for Global Mental Health, is dedicated to preventing Kush use and promoting the wellbeing of addicted youth in Freetown’s slum communities. Targeting 400 vulnerable young people (16-24 years old) many of whom are out of school, unskilled, and unemployed the program will provide: Psychosocial interventions (yoga, somatic movement & music training) Vocational and entrepreneurship training for sustainable livelihoods Soft skills development to empower and transform lives School and community outreach to raise mental health awareness Representing the organisation at this important event are our Executive Director, Esther Mattar, and Program Coordinator, Deyan salaam BANGURA.
