We are probably in to something. As reported by some people who had been at this year's Gamescom in Cologgne, Germany, Valve were actually exhibiting. But it was a closed presentation for developers only. Anyone attending it was required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Rumours floating around Gamescom suggested that behind the walls was a Source Engine 2 presentation. Unlike previously, this time -- not just a tech demo, but powering an actual game. It is unknown which one exactly, and these rumours haven't received any confirmation anyway. Which led to the information not being published anywhere but specialized forums.

Another existing rumor on the convention suggests that Valve did plan on showing something to the public, but changed their minds as soon as they realized that Sony is very aggressive with its PS4 on all fronts. The hype wouldn't be the same. So they decided to move their reveal(?) to October later this year, or November(L4D franchise 5 years anniversary).

Now we all remember the very first L4D3 leak[stickskills.com] that proved its existence. It happened on June 1st, the same day L4D2 got announced back on E3 2009. However, the according Steamworks entry subsequently got deleted or rather "hidden"(technically only a Steam admin could tell the difference). Until now.

The Steam CDR record got updated just yesterday[steamdb.info], proving once and for all that L4D3 is not a hoax and it still alive. May it have to do with a potential upcoming reveal?

Whatever is the reason for this update, we will keep you posted on the subject!

But if you do want to play in this cup, then respect the people who are creating this possibility for you, respect and follow the rules.
