Set notifications for accessories in Home on Mac
You can receive notifications when your accessories detect something, and check the status of your accessories.
Turn on notifications for an accessory
Some accessories, like smoke sensors and door locks, have notifications enabled by default, but you can also set up notifications for some other types of accessories, like motion sensors.
In the Home app on your Mac, click an accessory’s name in the tile.
Click Status and Notifications, then select notifications. (You may need to scroll down.)
The available notifications depend on the type of accessory. The notifications are set up for this Mac only.
Turn off or change notifications from Home
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Notifications in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Go to Application Notifications on the right, click Home, then do one of the following:
Turn off all notifications from Home: Turn off “Allow notifications”.
Change notifications: Set options, such as the style of notifications to receive or where to show them. For more information about the options, click the Help button in the lower-right corner.
To temporarily turn off notifications or to receive only critical alerts, see Set up a Focus.
Check the status of your accessories
You can check the status of your accessories directly from the Home screen.
In the Home app on your Mac, click Home or a room in the sidebar.
Turn off “Allow notifications”.
If the accessory tile is solid: Click the accessory’s icon in the tile to turn on or off the accessory (a delay of 8 seconds allows you to undo your action by clicking again). Control-click or force-click it to see details.
If the accessory tile is transparent: Click it to see details.
Climate sensor accessories are grouped together under one accessory category. Alarm sensor accessories (smoke, leak, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide) are also grouped together under one accessory category.
