We have announced an investment to expand propylene production capacity at our Channelview Complex near Houston. “This capacity expansion strengthens our ability to meet increasing customer demand and improve our self-sufficiency as we grow and upgrade a core business line for LyondellBasell,” said Kim Foley, LYB executive vice president, Global Olefins & Polyolefins and Refining. “Additionally, it reduces our exposure to market volatility, which positions LYB to provide consistent returns for our shareholders.” Groundbreaking and construction are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025, with a projected startup in late 2028. Today, LYB and SIPCHEM announced the award of a feedstock allocation from the Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia to conduct a joint study of a world-scale integrated steam cracking and derivative production complex. Construction of the project would result in the manufacturing of petrochemical products and derivatives, to be marketed inside and outside of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.     “As we move forward with our joint study, with a long-term partnership in mind, we further strengthen our commitment to Saudi Arabia,” said LYB CEO Peter Vanacker. https://lnkd.in/gf__g3At

Today, our EVP Yvonne Van Der Laan attended the ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Global Sustainability Conference, where she engaged with industry leaders on the future of sustainability. During the event, Yvonne shared her perspective on unlocking value with chemical and mechanical recycling. Later in the day, she participated in a panel discussion alongside other industry leaders, offering valuable insights into her experiences with the ISCC PLUS Certification and her expectations for ISCC and ISCC Plus going forward. "From our perspective, the expectations for ISCC moving forward involve building on the ISCC carbon footprint certification. We should also be able to integrate scope 1 investments, for example, those our company can make to decarbonize the footprint of our crackers, which are our biggest source of CO2 scope 1 emissions. We need to establish a credible chain of custody in mass balancing rules, allowing us to allocate these reductions as mass balancing over end-use products. This adds value for brand owners by providing recycled or bio-circular content, and the ISCC CFC will enable additional CO2 reduction certificate offerings. Creating this in a transparent and credible way will be a significant step forward for all of us." #Circularity #ChemicalRecycling #CircularEconomy
