Volunteer needed: Help us set up an online shop to support our young artists 🎨 In the coming months, we will be launching a new project to bring our students' artworks to a larger audience by selling their creations online. This effort isn’t just about selling art. Every purchase supports the young artists directly, helping them earn some income for themselves and their families while also contributing to our foundation’s mission. Setting up a Facebook shop, getting our website store live, and managing payment options have all been a bit of a challenge. We could really use someone who knows the ropes and can guide us through the process. If you have experience with any of these and would like to lend a hand, please reach out! Any guidance or support would mean a lot.

Empowering underprivileged kids through music and art
เกี่ยวกับเรา
The Paintbrush Foundation (previously Khlong Toey Music Program) is a non-profit organization established in October 2012 with the aim of creating positive social change through music and arts. Inspired by the Playing for Change (PFC) movement and related Playing For Change Foundation (PFCF), the Paintbrush team began by arranging free music lessons once a week for underprivileged kids in the Khlong Toey slum community. Soon after, PFCF offered its support, and in June 2013, Paintbrush became the 9th music program to be officially endorsed by the Playing For Change Foundation. Fast forward nine years later, the Paintbrush foundation is open 5 days a week, and teach western music, Thai classical music, visual arts and English to about 70 children.

Happy Birthday to Us! On October 20th, the Paintbrush Foundation turned 12 years old. What started as a simple idea—bringing music education to the children in the Khlong Toey communities—has grown into something we couldn’t have imagined. Today, we’re a full foundation, offering Western and Thai classical music, dance, English, and visual arts to about 70 kids every week. Along the way, we’ve learned that supporting our older students means more than teaching; it means helping them reach for their dreams with career guidance, administrative and financial help, and a community they can rely on. It’s been a long road, with plenty of challenges, and there’s still so much more to do. But we are proud of how far we’ve comme and we are deeply grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey with us. Here’s to many more years of growth and positive impact, together. 🌱 #12YearsOfPaintbrush #NonProfitJourney #SupportingOurCommunity #MusicEducation

Nonprofit Leadership: Growing a Mission-Driven Team 🌱 At the Paintbrush Foundation, we strongly believe in the potential for growth within people. For us, hiring isn’t just about finding the right skills—it’s about finding people with the right mindset and passion for giving. Many of our staff have evolved within their roles, transitioning from roles such as ukulele teacher to full-time administrator and program coordinator. We believe in giving people the space to explore different aspects of themselves, hone new skills, and discover where they fit best. Retaining staff who are aligned with our mission is just as important as investing in their personal and professional growth. Our co-founder and director Geraldine Nemrod began their journey as a volunteer teacher and, over the years, learned every aspect of the foundation, from administration to program development. It wasn’t an easy path, but with dedication, hard work, and a passion for helping others, they grew into their current role as foundation director. We believe anyone can do the same—what matters is the heart, commitment, and willingness to learn. 💡 #NonprofitLeadership #TeamManagement #GrowthMindset #NonprofitCulture #MissionDrivenWork #Empowerment

🌟 Empowering Students Through Part-Time Job Opportunities 🌟 At the Paintbrush Foundation, our long-term goal is to support our students in pursuing their educational dreams. Many of our students come from low-income communities, and by the age of 14, they often face the difficult decision to leave school to work and support their families. To address this, we’ve created a part-time job and training program, thanks to the generous sponsorship of St. Andrews International School, Dusit Campus and the Playing For Change Foundation. This initiative allows students to earn a decent income while continuing their education. Whether assisting teachers or taking on administrative roles, this program helps keep them enrolled in school, preventing them from leaving altogether. One of our students, Waen, has been with us for 9 months. Before joining the program, he had to work late evenings and weekends, which left him too exhausted to study. Now, with this opportunity, he can work reasonable hours and focus on his education. We’re deeply grateful for our sponsors and proud of this program’s success. Together, we’re helping our students balance work and education, empowering them to achieve their dreams. 🌱 #YouthEmpowerment #EducationForAll #PartTimeOpportunities #SupportingDreams #NonprofitImpact #CommunitySupport

Studies have shown that low-income communities face higher rates of depression due to chronic stress from financial instability, housing insecurity, and limited healthcare access (https://lnkd.in/eBPaktbK). While music therapy is most effective alongside regular therapy, it still offers significant benefits on its own—particularly in communities where access to traditional therapy is limited. Music therapy can reduce stress, foster emotional expression, and create a sense of community, all of which are critical in addressing mental health challenges. At the Paintbrush foundation, we would love to explore ways to integrate music therapy into our programs to enhance the well-being of our students, whether through workshops or by training our teachers to incorporate it into daily lessons. 🎶 Any music therapist out there interested in helping us develop this? #MentalHealthMatters #MusicTherapy #CommunityHealing #ArtsEducation #NonprofitImpact

We are sincerely grateful for the ongoing support of the Asha Foundation for Humanity. Their commitment to our mission over the years has been essential in enabling us to continue supporting our students. We appreciate their dedication and enthusiasm for improving the lives of those in need. Last Saturday, we had the privilege of hosting their team at our school. They enjoyed some of our students' performances and took the time to discuss the future of our school and potential collaborations. Thank you for being part of our journey!
