Stackable, Secure, and Space-Saving Drum Stand Support Support or subframes for hydraulic-driven drum stands are silent heroes in powerline construction. Their ability to withstand dynamic forces and vibrations is crucial for preventing cable damage, ensuring worker safety, and securing the integrity of costly materials. The ZECK TB support frame is not just a silent hero but also a smart one when it comes to space constraints. When four drum stands cannot fit side by side while maintaining the required 5° rope run-in, placing two drum blocks one behind the other becomes a practical solution. A tandem configuration like this can be created simply by placing one frame in front of the other and securely connecting them with our simple yet smart anchoring system. Additionally, the TB support frame features two built-in toolboxes for storing the four supplied chains used to secure the TB. Forklift pockets on all sides ensure easy handling, and the frames are stackable for efficient storage when not in use. #HydraulicDrumStand #CableHandling #IndustrialSupportFrames #ZECKSolutions

On the Wigan to Bolton #Electrification Project SPL POWERLINES UK have hit a huge milestone on Saturday night 7th December whereby we installed the final Contact/Catenary Wire. The fantastic Wiring Team braved Storm Darragh to safely install SW06 on Up Hindley in CU09. During the shift we also successfully installed the final Surge Arrestors and RSC Cable on the route along continuation of the Registration and In Span. The POS Reps continually measured the wind speeds throughout the night to ensure we stayed below the threshold. Mark Cowgill - I'm extremely proud of the team who have continued to demonstrate resilience with the challenges which have been thrown upon us. All eyes are on Wk40 #Energisation now. Also, thanks to our supply chain, the Principal Contractor KIER Construction for assisting to protect our works and obviously our fantastic client Network Rail With Lee Farmer & Steve McWhan - well done #TEAM

Robotic technology for high-voltage spacer installations has made impressive strides. The CSR-18™ robot, developed by FulcrumAir and PLP, automates spacer installations on bundled conductors with precision within five centimeters. It torques bolts accurately and logs critical quality control data, enhancing maintenance efficiency. The CSR-TWIN, a version tailored for twin conductors, was recently tested by Yurika at Queensland’s Clarke Creek Wind Farm, demonstrating its potential in controlled, large-scale operations. While these robots excel in repetitive tasks, their ability to fully replace human labor in unpredictable or unique scenarios remains under evaluation through field trials. Despite a high initial investment, these systems aim to reduce risks to human workers and boost efficiency. They mark a shift toward automation in utility markets, a sector poised for rapid growth in the coming decade. These innovations are shaping safer and more efficient high-voltage projects worldwide. #PowerLineMaintenance #SpacerInstallation #RoboticsInUtilities
Building high voltage powerlines can be a challenging business, so we’re always looking for new and better ways to work safely. We’ve recently used some amazing new robot line spacers at our Clarke Creek Wind Farm project, which means this work can be done remotely from the ground. Fully remote controlled, the robot is sent up and down the lines to install spacers, keeping the individual powerline cables at a safe distance from each other to prevent contact. This is a world first innovation, and the first time the CSR-TWIN has successfully completed an installation of the PLP Twin Lok spacer. Credit to FulcrumAir and PLP for working across the industry to develop such an innovative new product that make it safer for our people and contractors to do their work efficiently. Thanks to Travis Jacklin and the #Yurika Transmission Team for always looking for a safer, better way. Squadron Energy Tim Page

A few months ago, we introduced the technique of implosive jointing for connecting high-voltage conductors. The discussion that followed was insightful, with some sharing positive experiences and others raising questions about the safety of this innovative approach. To shed more light on the topic, here’s an informative video from a Canadian electricity provider that further explains the technology. #implosiveSplicing #conductorworks #compressionjoint
Using implosion sleeves is another method to connect high voltage conductors in a connection compared to using compression clamps, wedge clamps and helical dead ends. The method is presented in a video from Manitoba Hydro in a very clear way. Source: https://lnkd.in/eATVKqhS #OverheadLine #OHL #HighVoltage #ConductorWorks

Eye Splicing: The Skill You Didn’t Know You Needed In the world of tension stringing and heavy lifting, precision isn't just important - it's everything. The difference between a successful operation and a disastrous one often comes down to a seemingly small detail: the eye splice. Eye splicing is an essential technique for creating secure loops (or "eyes") at the ends of wire ropes. Recently, a team of rope specialists from Zeck TSE, led by Rachata Pidkanphai, visited Norway to train employees of state-owned power grid operator Statnett SF in the fine art of eye splicing. This training by Zeck TSE brought several benefits to Statnett: 1. Safety and Reliability in High-Stress Applications: Ensures strong, durable connections for lifting, pulling, and securing loads. 2. Tension Stringing Operations: Create secure attachment points for equipment, pulleys, or tensioners with high-tension ropes. 3. Reduced Downtime and Emergency Repairs: High-quality splices ensure efficient repairs and installations, especially in remote areas. 4. Cost-Effectiveness: Extend the life of the wire rope and minimize wear, reducing the need for frequent replacements. 5. Compliance: Meet industry standards for safe, secure setups in power transmission, minimizing liability and maintaining credibility in the field. Each participant in the intensive 3-day workshop was required to successfully complete ten flawless splices under the keen supervision of the Zeck trainers. For our Thai specialists, on the other hand, this job was a great opportunity to experience Norway in November...COLD #EyeSplicing #TensionStringing #ZeckTSE #WireRope #RopeSafety

Project Highlight: Reeling in SUBMARINE CABLE The world's oceans are crisscrossed by 1.3 million kilometers of telecommunications and power cables. Ten kilometers of these used to bring electricity from Thailand’s mainland to Ko Sichang, a serene island and fishing community in the Gulf of Thailand. However, the island faced power supply challenges due to frequent damage to the undersea cable from heavy shipping traffic. In 2019, this recurring issue was resolved by building a small, local power plant. To solve the problem of the damaged cable, which had been lying unused on the seabed for five years, the The Provincial Electricity Authority commissioned Zeck TSE to design and install a special drum winch. Our contribution: 1. Customized cable drum winch: Designed for a maximum capacity of 13,000 kg. 2. Hydraulic power unit: Equipped with a planetary reduction unit to drive the drum stand with automatic tensioning mode. The project was successfully and efficiently completed in just 5 days, rewinding a total length of approximately 10,000 meters of submarine cable. #Engineering #ProjectManagement #PowerSupply #ZeckTSE #KoSichang #DrumWinch

HELICOPTER PULLER-TENSIONERS: In need of aerial muscle Creating custom-made products is one of ZECK's core strengths. In most cases, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel — just a smart adaptation of a proven platform. Over 20 years ago, ZECK developed one of the first specialized Helicopter Puller-Tensioners. The ZECK WB 1500/4-20 was built on-demand in a small series for clients in France. This model featured a powerful hydraulic system that could switch between two payout speed settings: regular, with a speed up to 5 km/h and a "Heli”-mode for aerial stringing, with an accelerated speed of up to 20 km/h. This notable feature allowed that the pulling rope could be directly reeled off from the Puller-Tensioner by a helicopter. These photos from 2003 capture the WB 1500/4-20 in action. As you would expect from ZECK machines, each of them is still in use today without any problems. The main reason helicopter-adapted machines like this haven’t become more widespread is the need for equally powerful helicopters to handle the heavy pulling ropes - an expensive requirement. The WB 1500/4 was the original platform that set the stage for 4-20 model. Today, its innovative design has evolved into the WB 1500/4.5 Z307, ZECK's fully electronically controlled, robust mid-range all-rounder that benefits from every step of that development journey. #TSE #helicopterstringing #ZECK #PullerTensioner
