Last October, we attended the #SVRIForum2024, where the Asia-Pacific's leading voices on Ending Violence Against Women joined a global exchange of ideas, evidence, and solutions. From sharing lessons on National Action Plans to tackling Technology-Facilitated Gender-based Violence, our participation highlighted the power of survivor-centered, evidence-based strategies. At the event we presented: ✨ A cross-regional learning exchange with experts from Asia and Africa, exploring National Action Plans to prevent violence. ✨ New regional guidance on integrating violence prevention into social work, developed with The ASEAN Secretariat, UNICEF, and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). ✨ A workshop addressing Technology-Facilitated GBV, emphasizing data-driven and survivor-focused approaches. Melissa Alvarado, our Regional Programme Manager on Ending Violence against Women, said it best: “By sharing promising practices and learning from each other, we can create stronger, more effective solutions to prevent violence and support survivors worldwide." Let’s keep the conversation alive as we move toward the global #Beijing30 review, driving progress for a violence-free future. Tourist Police officers and senior officials from across Thailand took part in a two-day workshop aimed at improving their response to sexual assault cases. Hosted at the British Embassy in Bangkok, the training focused on survivor-centered approaches, understanding trauma, and building stronger referral systems to ensure survivors receive the support they need. With expert facilitators leading role-playing exercises and interactive discussions, officers gained practical tools to handle sensitive cases with care. The training also highlighted the unique vulnerabilities of women migrant workers, ensuring police responses are inclusive and accessible to all survivors, regardless of their status. This initiative was co-organized by UN Women Asia and the Pacific the UK in Thailand and the Tourist Police Bureau with support from the European Union through the PROTECT Project and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
