Bollywood’s beloved star Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja have been a power couple since their marriage in 1987. However, their love story had a curious and rather unconventional beginning. Sunita once revealed an intriguing anecdote about Govinda’s college days, where stories of his behavior with women left her both shocked and intrigued.
During an appearance on Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai in the early 2000s, Sunita shared that she first heard about Govinda through her brother-in-law, who often praised his dashing nephew. However, what truly piqued her interest was when she was told that Govinda didn’t talk to women and, in fact, had been violent with two girls in college. According to her brother-in-law, Govinda had once hit a girl with an umbrella and thrown hot milk on another girl’s face.
While most might have been deterred by such stories, Sunita’s curiosity only grew. She recounted asking her brother-in-law to arrange a meeting with the mysterious Govinda. This meeting would mark the beginning of their love story, ending in their marriage when Sunita was just 18.
Their union, however, wasn’t without challenges. Sunita came from a wealthy family in Bandra, while Govinda was a struggling actor from Virar.
Their economic disparity and secret engagement led to family disapproval, with Sunita’s father notably absent from their wedding. Despite this, their relationship flourished, and the couple has since built a life filled with love and mutual respect.
