The Crossword Book Awards 2024 winners in different categories were announced at a grand event recently at The LaLiT Mumbai. For the unversed, the Crossword Book Awards honours the written word in its myriad forms, spanning diverse genres and styles.
The event brought together key figures from the Indian literary world, including
Twinkle Khanna, Ankur Warikoo, Kanan Gill, Sanjeev Sanyal, and Gaur Gopal Das, alongside celebrated guest speaker Prahlad Kakkar and presenters like Bachi Karkaria, Anupama Chopra, and Cyrus Broacha. The award was given in six diverse categories, namely— Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children's Books, Business & Management, Mind, Body & Spirit, and Translations. In addition to these, the event also recognised exceptional achievements with the Crossword Bestseller Award 2024 and the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award, making it a truly memorable evening.

FictionThe Jury Award was given to Saharu Nusaiba Kannanari for 'Chronicle of an Hour and a Half' published by Westland Books. While the Popular Choice Award for this category was won by Twinkle Khanna for 'Welcome to Paradise' published by Juggernaut Books.

2. Non-FictionThe Jury Award was given to Zeyad Masroor Khan for ;City on Fire; published by HarperCollins Publishers India. Meanwhile, the Popular Choice Award was given to Lt Gen. K.J.S. 'Tiny' Dhillon (Retd) for 'Kitne Ghazi Aaye Kitne Ghazi Gaye' published by Penguin Random House India.
3. Children's Books This year the Jury Award for Children's Books was jointly given to Andaleeb Wajid for 'The Henna Start-up' published by Penguin Random House India and Shabnam Minwalla for 'Zen' published by Penguin Random House India. Meanwhile, the Popular Choice Award was given to the legendary writer Ruskin Bond for 'All-time Favourite Nature Stories' which is illustrated by David Yambem and published by Penguin Random House India.
4. Business & ManagementThe Jury Award was won by Karthik Muralidharan for 'Accelerating India’s Development' published by Penguin Random House India. While the Popular Choice Award was given to Radhakrishnan Pillai for 'Chanakya’s 100 Best Sutras' published by Jaico Publishing House.
5. TranslationsThe Jury Award was given to Sandhya Mary for 'Maria, Just Maria'. The book is translated by Jayasree Kalathil and published by HarperCollins Publishers India. Meanwhile, the Popular Choice Award was given to Charu Nivedita for 'Conversations with Aurangzeb', which is translated by Nandini Krishnan and published by HarperCollins Publishers India.
6. Mind Body & SpiritThe Popular Choice Award was given to Gaur Gopal Das for 'Energize Your Mind' published by Penguin Random House India.
7. Crossword Bestseller 2024Author-podcaster Ankur Warikoo won the Crossword Bestseller 2024 award for 'Make Epic Money' published by Penguin Random House India.
8. Lifetime achievement awardAnd popular author
Amitav Ghosh was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
