Following his death, the Baltimore Orioles posted a heartbreaking message on X, paying tribute to the former pitcher. The team wrote:
"Our hearts are heavy tonight as we mourn the passing of former Oriole, Brian Matusz. A staple in our clubhouse from 2009-2016, Brian was beloved throughout Birdland, and his passion for baseball and our community was unmatched."

"He dedicated his time to connecting with any fan he could, was a cherished teammate, and always had a smile on his face. Brian’s family and loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time," Orioles concluded.
Apart from the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Jerry Hairson Jr. also shared his emotional reaction to Brian Matusz's death. Hairson Jr. and Matusz had been close friends for a long time, and the ex-Orioles star's death definitely left a dent in the broadcaster's heart.

MLB pens down emotional tribute to Brian Matusz

Besides the Baltimore Orioles and Jerry Hairson Jr., MLB also paid their tribute to Brian Matusz, following his demise at the age of 37. On Wednesday, the league shared an X post which read:
"We are devastated to learn of the passing of former Major League pitcher Brian Matusz. Matusz, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, spent the majority of his eight seasons with the Orioles. He won his Major League debut on August 4, 2009, as he gave up just one run in five innings."

"Matusz pitched in 280 regular season games throughout his career, starting in 69 of them. He pitched for two Orioles’ Postseason teams (2012 and 2014), making seven total Postseason appearances out of the bullpen. He made his last Major League appearance with the Cubs in 2016. He was 37 years old," MLB's post further added.
Brian Matusz was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the MLB Draft in 2008. In 2009, Matusz made his debut on the field and spent a good eight years with the team.
However, during the 2016 season, Matusz was traded by the Orioles to the Atlanta Braves. However, Matusz didn't get a chance to play with the Braves and ended up concluding his MLB career with the Chicago Cubs.
