Top WWE Legend Reveals Ultimate Goal: Finishing Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is easily one of the biggest WWE superstars at the moment. With his status comes a lot of competition because who doesn’t want to take down the top guy? Interestingly enough, Rhodes himself took down the top guy, Roman Reigns to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. While doing so, Rhodes put a huge target on his back that has now caught the eyes of WWE legend JBL who recently revealed his wish to hit Rhodes with a finisher.

JBL revealed his desire to hit Cody Rhodes with a finisher during a conversation with Backstage Pass. While speaking about the prospect of a potential WWE return, JBL was asked whether he’d consider returning just to his Rhodes with his iconic Clothesline. Here’s what he had to say in reply:
“Absolutely. Are you kidding me? That’s the freaking Holy Grail. That’s the guy you want to clothesline. There’s a lot of money tied to that clothesline. I would do that happily.”

While JBL may want to hit a finisher on Rhodes, that didn’t stop him from appreciating the Undisputed WWE Champion. He showed appreciation for Rhodes’ incredible run saying, “Cody is doing a fantastic job. I could not be more proud of Cody. I love Cody, and he’s just, you know, taking over after Roman Reigns had a reign that was the most dominant we’ve seen since Bruno Sammartino. Nobody thought you’d see something like that again.”

While appreciating Rhodes, JBL also used the Ultimate Warrior as an example to explain how he couldn’t follow the huge attraction that was Hulk Hogan. However, Cody Rhodes has been more than capable of following after Roman Reigns who is the biggest star WWE has seen since John Cena. It'll be interesting to see what else The American Nightmare has in store for us as we head into a new era of WWE in 2025.
