Bundesliga 2022/23: Youssoufa Moukoko’s season so far

Borussia Dortmund signed Youssoufa Moukoko for their youth academy in 2016. Moukoko was just 12 years old then. The Forward has now become a regular with the Dortmund first team after being promoted to the first team couple of years back. Moukoko, who recently turned 18, has had an excellent journey up until this point and has several years ahead in his playing career. Having been involved regularly in the first team this season, the below visualisation shows how the teenage forward fares when compared with other similar players from Euorpe’s top-five leagues.

Moukoko, predominantly being played as centre-forward this season, has pretty much had the burden of Dortmund’s attacking this season. The forward is the leading scorer for Dortmund this season in the league with 6 goals. Moukoko ranks 94th percentile for goals per 90 minutes when compared with similar players from Europe’s top 5 leagues. Moukoko is still very young and brings a lot of raw ability to his game that can improve over the years. Moukoko’s numbers are currently one of the best among U20 players around Europe.

Youssoufa Moukoko is yet to make his senior international debut but was recently called up for the World Cup squad. Moukoko has done well to reach his current level, but he is only getting started and a big stage like the World Cup has the potential to shoot his confidence levels sky-high before he can help Dortmund in the second half of the season.
