🌊 Strengthening Collaboration for Ocean Action in the Caribbean 🌎 Last week marked a significant milestone for the PROCARIBE+ Project with the inaugural Project Executive Group (PEG) meeting. This group is key to driving sustainable marine governance and advancing the blue economy in the region. The Institute of Marine Affairs will support efforts to develop a collaborative marine spatial plan (MSP) in the Gulf of Paria. The MSP exercise will deliver tangible results in support of Trinidad and Tobago's national "Integrated Coastal Zone Management Policy Framework" which aims to maximize sustainable use of Trinidad and Tobago's coastal and marine resources while enabling growth of its blue economy. The PEG is a cornerstone of the PROCARIBE+ approach, inspired by lessons from the CLME+ project. 🤝 It fosters collaboration among co-executing partners to ensure timely project implementation by collectively analyzing progress and tackling challenges head-on. The PEG brings together some of the region's leading organizations working on issues like: #fisheriestraceability, #MarineSpatialPlanning, #MarineProtectedAreas, #Bluecarbon development, and more. 🌎 PROCARIBE+ is committed to strengthening these institutions and fostering cross-border cooperation to safeguard our coastal and marine ecosystems. Reinaldo Morales Rodriguez, Technical Advisor for #OSPESCA, emphasized on the contribution of Procaribe+ to the support for "marine governance in the Caribbean region and northern Brazil" and how "working on common elements such as #marineplanning, the development of #protectedareas and #biodiversityconservation", allow partners and key actors to measure, evaluate and implement solutions that are sustainable over time. 🐠 Procaribe+ Project is committed to protecting and Restoring the Ocean's natural Capital, building Resilience and supporting region-wide Investments for sustainable Blue socio-Economic development. 👉 Follow us for the latest updates on advancing sustainable marine governance and shaping the future of the blue economy in the Caribbean. #SustainableBlueEconomy, #OceanAction, #CollaborationForChange, #MarineConservation, #BlueEconomyInnovation #PROCARIBE+ *Lee la versión en español en el primer comentario 👇

Building Stronger Partnerships for a Sustainable Future At our Stakeholder Engagement meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Ms. Priya Ramsumair-John, Climate Change Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), encouraged the IMA to strengthen collaborations with other countries to increase our contributions. IDB is ready to help IMA start these partnerships and support our digital transformation. In May 2024, Trinidad and Tobago made a big move toward creating a Blue Carbon Credit Market using marine resources such as mangrove forests. The government signed an agreement with IDB to implement the project, with IMA leading the way. Want to collaborate? Join us and other stakeholders in making a real impact. Together, we can protect our oceans and build a more sustainable future.
