Led by ABC Impact and Velafrica, Bikepreneur equips young people with crucial bicycle repair skills and entrepreneurial training, preparing them for careers in Tanzania's growing cycling industry. In this Cohort 2, Somo collaborates with ABC Impact, Velafrica, and Twende Social Innovation Center to equip participants with critical business development skills, financial literacy, and access to potential investors through Somo Invest. Together, we're empowering these young entrepreneurs to launch and scale their businesses sustainably within Tanzania's cycling sector.

The official launch of Bikepreneur Cohort 2 was a fantastic event! We witnessed the positive impact ABC Impact is making in our communities through bicycles and gained a clear understanding of the ‘Bikepreneur’ concept, which combines ‘Bike’ and ‘Entrepreneur’ to bring innovation to both. One of the highlights was seeing the incredible achievements of Cohort 1 participants in the Bikepreneur program. Their entrepreneurial innovations with bicycles were truly inspiring, showcasing the powerful changes that entrepreneurship can bring. Yesterday, on Friday, November 8th, I had the privilege of joining ABC Impact as they launched the 2nd cohort of Bikepreneur. As a panelist, I shared insights from my experience training the first cohort on Entrepreneurship a truly remarkable and resourceful group. The #Bikepreneur cohort was the youngest group I’ve ever trained, yet their drive and vision were unmatched. Seeing what they’ve achieved so far fills me with pride and gratitude; I’m honored to have had the chance to plant a seed in their entrepreneurial journeys. Africa's population is growing at a rate that higher than the jobs we create. We are few away from the turn of the decade where the 5th of the world will come from Africa, and a quarter towards 2050. Organizations are at the pivot in building this continent where youths will have access to descent opportunities. Bikepreneur is a year-long program by ABC Impact designed to tackle youth unemployment by fostering ventures centered around bicycles. Participants gain skills through hands-on mechanics training, entrepreneurship coaching, innovation workshops, and internships. In my next post, I’ll be sharing some exciting innovations from these young entrepreneurs that demonstrate the profound impact this program has made. Alongside was resourceful panelists I got an opportunity to hear from Davies Kunderi Sia Charles and Ayanna Kimaro a visionary behind ABC impact.
