Ms Ho Ching, Chairman of Temasek Trust, has accepted the invitation of the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) to become their Patron. This was announced by Dr Teo-Koh Sock Miang, President of the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC), at the Singapore Disability Sports Awards 2024. The Awards celebrated the grit, courage, and the achievements of our para-athletes, and also recognised the individuals, groups and organisations for their exceptional contributions to disability sports. “Sports is one of the many dimensions of life and living that can build courage and resilience. Together, we can champion the ideals of a stronger, healthier, kinder, and more inclusive society through sports,” Ms Ho said during her remarks at the event. 🦜🦦🌟 Empowering the next generation of conservation leaders is key to bringing about transformative change for a sustainable planet. “Their innovative ideas and collaborative spirit will challenge the status quo and ignite transformative action,” says Dr. Jessica Lee from Mandai Nature, part of the Temasek Trust ecosystem. The wildlife conservation organisation hosted an experiential learning session at Bird Paradise for 20 Asian youth climate changemakers as part of The Earthshot Prize Asia Youth Leaders Programme. 🌏 Dr. Lee spoke about Mandai Nature’s wildlife conservation efforts, as well as how climate and biodiversity are interconnected and hence must be tackled holistically. Mandai Nature is committed to investing in the potential and capabilities of youth who are passionate about nature conservation. Initiatives such as the CITES Global Youth Network provide a platform for meaningful youth engagement, by building a network for conservation and action around crucial issues like the illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade. 🌍 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🌍 During #EarthshotWeek, our youth leaders visited several impact-driven organisations, gaining fresh insights into practical ways of driving positive #impact. We spotlight two out of the eight immersion experiences here: 🌊 OceanHub Africa: Youths heard from OceanHub Africa on its work in promoting sustainable ocean-focused solutions. Through efforts that tackle overexploitation, pollution, and climate change, OceanHub encourages a sustainable ocean economy. During their tour of the aquarium, the youths got a first look at these issues and possible solutions. 🌐🐠 🏠 Mould Empower Serve (MES): Youths also visited MES, a safe space which aims to address poverty and homelessness. MES integrates #sustainability into its programme while offering its ‘residents’ a sense of dignity and empowerment.
