What an incredible day it was at the Tobacco Control Debate hosted by SAYoF Health on the 13th of December With the theme, ‘Tobacco Control: A Path to a Healthier Future or an Overreach on Personal Choice?’, what do you think 🤷🏾♀️ This debate brought together a diverse group of young health champions and those eager to learn and it provided a unique platform for youth to express informed opinions and inspire actionable change regarding tobacco-related issues. 🗣️🙌 Our Founder Kapwani Kavenuke had the honor of judging along Miss careen and Lavina Ibrahim as co moderator. Thank you to the incredible coordinators Sabai Birai , Vivian J Joseph and Southern Africa Youth Forum (SAYoF_SADC) for organizing this impactful session and creating space for meaningful youth engagement. #YouthEngagement #SouthernAfricaYouth

Meeting with the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Tanzania, Mr. Andrew Lentz, alongside with a fellow young leader George Kyomushula from the Abagurusi Foundation was another highlight of the 12th of December ✨✨✨ #Intergenerational #solidarity has been the song of young people, and we are constantly seeking spaces to communicate freely with those experienced before us. I truly appreciated the meaningful conversations we had and I deeply commend the US Embassy in Tanzania for your efforts in fostering collaboration with young people and your unwavering commitment to engaging with us more. 🧡 Today, we mark the International Day for Eliminating Violence Against Women. Behind every number is a story—a life impacted, a voice silenced, a future altered. Consider these realities: 🔸 1 in 3 women worldwide experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. 🔸 58% of women face online harassment, with 73% of female journalists enduring online violence. 🔸 1 in 5 girls experience sexual violence as children. 🔸 1 in 4 young women suffer abuse before age 25. 🔸 1 in 2 women in science report harassment at work. 🔸 In 2022, 89,000 women lost their lives to femicide. These are not just numbers. They are our mothers, sisters, daughters, friends. They are leaders, dreamers, change-makers. They deserve more than a world that looks away—they deserve action. 💡 #OrangeTheWorld is a call to end violence in all its forms, to amplify survivors' voices, to demand accountability, and to foster a culture of respect and equality. 🔸 Let’s reflect: What will you do to create a safer, fairer world for women and girls? Share your commitment below or tag someone who inspires you to stand up against violence. Together, we can rewrite these numbers and make a shift in history. #NoExcuse to violence against Women Yoel G Mbaruku Kapwani Kavenuke Giulia Tariello Jana Berchtold

I’m honestly speechless 🤩 ✨ From participating in church debates, high school debates, university symposiums, moot courts, learning advocacy skills through the African United Nations Youth Delegates (UNA Tanzania), and boosting my confidence through moderating and facilitating with Ubuntu Impact Limited, all I can say is: in every step of life, there is a lesson. I am filled with joy to be the recipient of the The World Bank Group Youth Debate Challenge Africa ‘Best Debater Award’ 🥇 and a Team Award 🏆✨ #TeamZambezi kudos to my incredible teammates: @MatthewChakulunta (Zambia), Edward Luwanja (Malawi), and Kudzaishe Masendeke (Zimbabwe). The motion was eye-opening, leading to the conclusion that Quality Education and Access to Education are two sides of the same coin. We have been walking for a long time, and now it’s time to run—run for inclusivity and quality for the development of the Africa we want. 🌍 Very grateful to The World Bank Tanzania and Nathan Belete World Bank Country Director (Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe) for this opportunity Kudos to my fellow distinguished debater, Team Serengeti's Raphael Denis 💚 🖤 💛 🖤 💙

People living in poverty face negative attitudes. They are stigmatized, discriminated against, judged for example by their appearance, accent, address - or lack of it, blamed for their situation, and treated with disrespect. A person never chooses to live such a lifestyle but circumstances lead them into such positions. Today we are reminded to choose kindness. We all need a helping hand, and deserve to live in dignity because, as our motto “we are all human". #LetsBreaktheCycle
