In Ukraine, this challenge is particularly pressing, with over 2.3 million Ukrainians living with diabetes — and nearly half unaware of their condition. 💡 Our innovation: CheckEye leverages AI trained by top Ukrainian ophthalmologists, led by Professor Andrii Korol, to analyze fundus images with 95% sensitivity and 90% specificity in just one minute. Accessible with standard fundus cameras, internet, and minimal medical staff involvement, CheckEye makes screening possible anywhere. In the midst of unprecedented challenges, CheckEye became the first in Europe to launch a nationwide screening program for diabetic retinopathy—and we did it during a war.   💪 Why is this so important? CheckEye at FUTURE FORCES FORUM 2024 Our team participated in #FutureForcesForum in Prague, where Olena Chernenko, our development advisor, shared how CheckEye’s AI-powered diabetic retinopathy screening is saving lives in Ukraine, even during war. 👁 Olena discussed how our nationwide screening system detects diseases early and prevents irreversible blindness. 🚀Launching a pilot project in Chernihiv Region! The CheckEye team, in collaboration with HELSI has launched a pilot project in the Borzna, Chernihiv region, at CNE "Borznyanskyi CPMSA." 🎯The project’s main goal is to screen for diabetic retinopathy, a common and serious complication of diabetes that can lead to vision loss if not detected early. 📈As of late 2023, over 28,338 people in Chernihiv region have been diagnosed with diabetes, underscoring the importance of such screenings to preserve vision and prevent complications. In addition to diabetic retinopathy screening, this project also monitors chronic diseases, which pose a significant challenge to the healthcare system. 🏥This pilot is part of CheckEye’s broader strategy to provide access to early diagnostics and preventive care for non-communicable diseases. We believe that timely detection of health issues can significantly improve the quality of life for patients and reduce complications in the long run.
