Energy of the future: new opportunities for education in Ukraine 💡🇺🇦 Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk spoke at the “Human Capital in the Energy Sector” panel discussion at the IV International Conference ReBuild Ukraine Construction & Energy. He emphasized the importance of transforming higher education to meet the modern challenges of the energy sector. Key points of the speech: ✅ Education and the market: Ukraine plans to introduce specialized training programs on climate-neutral technologies and develop postgraduate courses cooperating with energy companies. ✅ The challenge of time: Higher education is still focused mainly on traditional sectors (oil, gas, coal), while the demand for specialists in renewable energy is growing rapidly. ✅ Shortage of personnel: Only a few of the more than 700 specializations in Ukrainian universities are related to renewable energy. This hinders the development of the sector and reduces its investment attractiveness. 💬 “A skilled workforce, investment, and generation development are interconnected elements of success in the renewable energy sector. Ukraine needs to adapt its educational system to market needs and European standards, such as the European Green Deal Skills Agenda,” said Mykola Kolisnyk. What's next? 🔹 Harmonization of Ukrainian education with European standards. 🔹 Development of curricula for new specialties in renewable energy. 🔹 Integration of educational initiatives into the European Green Deal strategy until 2030. 👉 Education is the basis for sustainable development of the energy sector and the key to Ukraine's transition to a green economy.

Powerful changes to build Ukraine's energy independence. The Government of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy have significantly simplified procedures and introduced new financial incentives for expanding distributed generation, so businesses and citizens can invest in energy equipment more easily and profitably. 🔹 Financial support for citizens and businesses: the government has introduced support programs, including: - 0% loans for energy equipment for individuals; - Expansion of the program “Affordable Loans 5-7-9%” for the purchase of energy equipment for condominiums, housing cooperatives and businesses; - special conditions for state-owned and municipal enterprises. 🔹 Promoting distributed generation: simplified procedures for connecting to the grid, simplified procurement of equipment, removal of VAT, and duties on renewable energy equipment. 🔹 Faster construction and launch of generating plants: the state supports the installation of gas piston and gas turbine plants. The construction of facilities can now be carried out in parallel with the preparation of documentation, and they can be put into operation without the need to obtain certificates of acceptance. To prepare for the winter season of 2024-2025, utilities are allowed to purchase equipment without tenders, providing reporting in the Prozorro system for transparency and efficiency of the process. 📞 STRUM hotline (15-49) - the government provides advisory support and records complaints about violations by grid operators when connecting generating plants. 🔋 Investments in renewable energy: Ukraine has already launched pilot auctions for renewable energy producers, and the Ministry of Economy has approved a Roadmap for developing smart grids with digital solutions at all grid levels. Ukraine is actively moving towards energy independence, attracting investments, and stimulating the development of new generating capacities!

New horizons for green energy in Ukraine. For the first time in Ukraine, the State Enterprise “Guaranteed Buyer” announced an online auction to support enterprises that produce electricity from alternative sources through the state system Prozorro.Sale. The first lot will be an 11 MW annual quota for solar power generation. Under the terms of the auction, the station should be located on the left bank of the Dnipro River. This is an important step for the development of green energy and ensuring transparent competition in the market. The bidding will be based on the principle of price reduction, which will reduce the cost of “green electricity” for end consumers. The maximum bid is 9 euro cents per 1 kWh. The auction will take place on October 31, and applications will be accepted until October 30, 2024. Why is it important? This auction is the first of many upcoming ones aimed at supporting investors in the renewable energy sector. Thanks to transparent conditions, investors will be able to attract financing, create new jobs, and increase generating capacity. This approach will help to reduce the price of green energy and increase energy security and integration into the European energy system. Supporting renewable energy sources is not only environmentally friendly but also beneficial for economic development and future generations.

At the recent event “Education and Business in the Energy Sector: Points of Interaction for Solving Personnel Problems”, we took part in important discussions on developing partnerships between the energy sector and educational institutions. Our joint efforts help not only develop the industry but also create prospects for young professionals. Main conclusions of the event: 1. Overcoming the staff shortage: Cooperation with universities and colleges helps to create a new generation of highly qualified specialists needed for the development of the energy sector. Employers can participate in the development of training and internship programs that prepare students for real-world challenges. 2. Practical training and internships: From theory to practice is the key to success. Companies provide students with the opportunity to intern at production sites to gain direct experience in the energy sector. During the event, business representatives considered the possibility of expanding internship programs in partnership with leading educational institutions. 3. Focus on green energy: In the context of the global transition to renewable energy sources, it is important to train a new generation of engineers and experts who will work on the development of green energy technologies. We fully share the opinion that a focus on long-term training of specialists in this field, in cooperation with educational institutions, will ensure the sustainable development of the industry. Result: Thanks to such initiatives, we not only support the sustainable development of the energy sector but also invest in the future by training leaders who can adapt to changes and create innovative solutions. Continuing to strengthen the ties between education and business is paving the way for an energy-independent and environmentally friendly Ukraine!
