Tech4Good Global Challenge #1: Energy for Ukraine Global Initiative Seeks Innovative Energy Solutions for Ukraine’s Winter Crisis October 14, 2024 – Massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have destroyed or damaged more than 50% of power lines, leading to widespread blackouts. More than 10 million people are affected by the energy crisis, and this number continues to grow as the winter months approach. In response to the critical energy crisis in Ukraine, the Tech4Good Global Challenge #1: Energy for Ukraine is inviting startups, SMEs, and innovators from across the globe to submit energy solutions to the platform tech4goodchallenge.org. The first Open Call runs from October 15 to November 15, 2024. We aim to create a list of selected projects, ensure funding from corporations and donors, and facilitate the implementation of technologies in Ukraine. Additionally, we will take measures for the startups to be included in a comprehensive global database with the potential for deployment in other regions affected by conflict and natural disasters. Co-opetition: How Ukrainian Startups Are Teaming Up to Beat Russia 🤝🇺🇦 The Ukrainian defense tech scene is booming! 🚀 Driven by the urgent need for innovative solutions, startups are popping up left and right to counter Russian aggression. 💪 One example? Vidar Systems. They're developing acoustic systems to detect enemy artillery and just won a prize at the IT Arena conference. 🏆 But it's not all smooth sailing. Finding qualified engineers is tough, but the spirit of innovation and collaboration is winning the day. 💡 "Ukrainian civil society...has one of its unique manifestations in defense tech - co-competition," says Denys Sobchyshak, CEO of Vidar Systems.
