Until the 18th century, Khorasan and Maverannakhr (the Transoxiana, the Central Asian area north of the Oxus River) were considered a single region, distinguishing western Iran from eastern Iran, with a common history and cultural centres such as Isfahan, Herat, Samarkand, Bukhara and Delhi, all the way to China. Iranzamin or Greater Iran also included parts of the Caucasus, and the Chinese regarded Iran as ‘the West’ all the way to Europe. https://lnkd.in/d3z26m9c

In a groundbreaking ruling, the Nagoya High Court granted Japanese citizenship to a girl born in Japan to Afghan refugees on the grounds that her parents were essentially "stateless" at the time of her birth in November 2022. The girl's parents fled Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover and were granted refugee status in Japan in August 2023. Japanese law grants citizenship to children born to stateless parents. https://lnkd.in/dBKQzfgB

Move Forward, the main opposition and largest party in Thailand’s parliament, announced a new name and leadership, following a #ConstitutionalCourt decision on Wednesday to disband it for proposing legislation allegedly undermining democracy and the monarchy. It will now be called the People's Party and will include all 143 lawmakers from the old party
