It’s difficult to identify any one single moment from the past week which best captures what it means to have the opportunity to spend time amongst the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s The Forum of Young Global Leaders community. Was it: 🤩the inspiration from hearing the story of Barrister Maleeka Bokhari’s work against gender-based violence in Pakistan which continues today notwithstanding that it led to her imprisonment at one point, Victor’s extraordinary personal experience in the face of the Lord’s Resistance Army and the grace and positivity with which he chooses to lead his work with AYINET, or Nathan’s deliberate and thoughtful leadership? 🤩Listening to 🇸🇬 Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the challenges facing a small, open and globalised country amidst major geopolitical shifts over the next few decades? 🤩The learnings from in-depth conversations led by André at JEDI ⚡️ Joint European Disruptive Initiative with technical and strategy leaders across Singapore’s government, industry and academia on #AI and #deeptech? 🤩 The off-programme early morning trip to PSA Singapore’s port (h/t María and Ritesh) to hear about the digitalisation of their infrastructure to meet the challenges of competitiveness? This year we met in Singapore 🇸🇬, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the The Forum of Young Global Leaders, and I’m extremely grateful for the vision and generosity which brought this community to life and continues to sustain it today - both within the World Economic Forum secretariat and across my fellow YGLs who bring to life the values of generosity, authenticity, respect and impact, and work to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Thank you to each of you who have made this special week possible. 🛬 As I land back in London, my challenge lies in channeling this energy and the ideas it spawned into impact, in ways both big and small ✨👀✨
