This has been described as a new gender gap… women seem to be able to hide how tired they are by being more sociable than men, despite their fatigue 🥱 And this got us thinking… While this may seem like strength, could it potentially lead to burnout and unacknowledged emotional labour at work? When exhaustion is hidden, it’s harder for employers to offer support, and gendered expectations can reinforce unhealthy workplace norms. To work from home or not to work from home? 🤔 The evolving landscape of work has long sparked diverse perspectives on remote and hybrid models - and 2025 doesn't look set to buck that trend! This year we've already heard Debbie Crosbie, CEO of Nationwide Building Society, express concerns that women who frequently work from home may miss out on career progression opportunities. She notes that, at Nationwide, men are more likely to come into the office than women, potentially limiting women's access to "development-watching"—the informal learning and networking that occur through in-person interactions. Conversely, many companies continue to embrace flexible work policies, allowing employees to choose their work locations. For instance Spotify is sticking with its "work from anywhere policy" and their HR chief Katarina Berg recently said: “You can’t spend a lot of time hiring grownups and then treat them like children”. Their flexible working policy has reportedly led to a 50% reduction in attrition rates and faster hiring times.
