Rough Sleeping in South East London is up 28% on this time last year. With more and more people pushed into homelessness every day. If this was your Sister, your Brother or your Mum – would you make sure they got the support they need? At midday tomorrow, we're launching our Big Give Appeal to raise as much money as possible to help those who are living out on the streets in South East London. If you donate after midday, your donation will be DOUBLED. That means for every £10 you donate, £20 will go towards providing hot meals, thermal layers and emergency support for people like Grace, Tomasz and Stuart. Please share our campaign and pledge your support through our website: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e9hRRH-8 *These cases are fictionalised to protect the anonymity of our members

Deaths of people sleeping rough have risen disproportionately in the last year. With rough sleeping now up by 28% in South East London, more people than ever will be fighting to survive out in the cold this winter. 999 Club gives those who need us the best chance of survival – finding shelter for them where possible and providing equipment like 4-season sleeping bags and thermals if not. Donations made to us via Big Give between 03-10 December will be DOUBLED, meaning your gift will help us to reach even more people who need our help. Pledge your support and we'll send you a reminder when the donation matching starts: https://lnkd.in/e9hRRH-8 *Image statistics courtesy of the Museum of Homelessness.

Despite the change of Government, record numbers of people are still sleeping rough on our streets. Conditions will improve soon (we hope) but right now, the number arriving at our services in Deptford continues to rise. 999 club can support with hot food, housing advice and critical survival items like 4 season sleeping bags and thermals. But all of this costs money and we can't be there for everyone without your help..... However if you donate on the Big Give website between midday 03 Dec- 10 Dec then your donation will be DOUBLED. So for every £10 you give, we receive £20. Want to help? Pledge your support on our website and we'll get in touch to remind you when the gift matching starts: www.999club.org/better #ChristmasChallenge #BigGive #WinterAppeal #999Club #EndHomelessness #RoughSleeping #SouthEastLondon #HomelessCharity #SouthEastLondonCharity #Donate #DonationsDoubled #Support #EndRoughSleeping

There's been a 143% increase in the number of households experiencing homelessness and have been placed in temporary accommodation. Due to a lack of council owned property to house them in, people are often put up in London hotels which are the most expensive of all London's short stay accommodation options, usually just one room with no kitchen facilities. These are not idea places to live a normal life and stays in these places can be prolonged, creating more mental distress for people at a time of massive instability. #HomelessnessAwareness #HomelessnessCharity #HomlessnessPrevention #JoinThe999Club #Volunteerat999Club #SoutheastLondon #Deptford #Greenwich #Lewisham

We organised an evening yoga session and invited some men to come along in support of men's mental health.

The Bridge is a mental health support service which operates in the evenings and weekends at 999 Club, providing a safe space where those who feel unable to cope, emotionally or mentally can be supported by our dedicated staff team

It was great to see our guests venture out of their comfort zones, as they were encouraged to get out of their heads and into their bodies, the session was followed by an open chat where the men felt comfortable to openly share their insights & experiences of mental struggle and how it affected each of them uniquely. A big part of the work we do at the 999 Club is to encourage members to feel safe, valued and settled whenever they are in need of our services and support. People who are rough sleeping spend a lot of time being ignored, embroiled in agro, or snared in hostile bureaucracy. That’s why calm friendly services is a fundamental to all our working culture. #HomelessnessAwareness #HomelessnessCharity #HomlessnessPrevention#JoinThe999Club#Volunteerat999Club#999ClubSupport#SoutheastLondon #Deptford #Greenwich #Lewisham #vulnerabilityisstrength

Deptford Broadway is no stranger to double decker busses but every Wednesday - like clockwork- A particularly special bus arrives, outside and 999 Club members stream inside. They’re not being whisked off on a trip though. This is the ‘Driving for Change’ bus where people experiencing homelessness can get their hair cut, have a dental check up or skill up on one of their practical training courses. These small acts of care can really lift the spirits of someone sleeping rough lending them back the dignity that homelessness can really chip away at. We take a holistic approach in supporting our members at the 999 Club and it looks like this..... services that empower & uplift our member’s self esteem & confidence. BiG shout out to the @changeplease bus who turn up every week for our members, 10-4pm, rain or shine. You’re the Best!!
