  • With over 5400 drug related deaths registered in England and Wales in 2023 and opiates being responsible in just under half of the cases reported, it is clear the scourge of addiction is an ever-present and growing problem. In the UK alone around 140,000 people receive treatment for opioid disorders each year, which without expert intervention, threatens to destroy the physical and mental health of sufferers and their loved ones. It is clear it is an area that needs ongoing focus and attention from many players, including industry. That is why Accord Healthcare is committed to tackling addiction through our portfolio of medicines and to help those who need it most to overcome addiction. We highlight this commitment today in an article in The Future of Healthcare supplement published by Media Planet in today’s edition of The Telegraph and discuss how continuously adding value to an established range of medications, combined with innovative and flexible approaches to partnership working with the likes of the NHS, the police, academia and other industry partners to improve training and awareness is yielding results and saving lives. https://lnkd.in/e69jYuj2 #futureofhealthcarecampaign2024 #WeMakeItBetter #AccordHealthcare (S)

Within this, the panel discussed the crucial role of government policy in securing £18 billion in potential NHS savings over the next five years. Clara’s article outlines how better support for biosimilars and generics can unlock these savings and improve patient care. Read the full article to learn more. (s)

  • This Christmas, our chosen corporate charity International Health Partners (IHP) is giving children a brighter future by ensuring access to the lifesaving medicine they need.   Over half of all child deaths are due to conditions that could be prevented with improved access to healthcare (WHO).   Together with IHP, we believe that no child should suffer due to the lack of healthcare, and are doing what we can to ensure all children have access to medicines and medical supplies to treat everything from infections to childhood cancers.   Donations made by 25th December will be matched, doubling your impact!   Donating is simple - click here for more information www.ihpuk.org. Thank you! (S)

  • It was wonderful to be in Vienna last weekend for this year’s #PROSCA meeting with so many colleagues and partners. As principal sponsors it was a privilege to host the 'Prostate Cancer Playback – highlights of 2024' symposium to kick off the meeting. The speakers took delegates through the latest thinking and research to emerge over the course of 2024 from a urologist’s and medical oncologist’s perspectives and there was a huge amount of debate and conversation with many questions from the floor. As a company dedicated to supporting healthcare professionals to deepen their knowledge and learning, it was an honour to be able to bring together such a strong group or speakers and delegates. We engaged in many insightful and fruitful discussions over the course of the two day meeting on topics ranging from patient support, to improving early diagnosis and how best to support delivery of treatments. It really was a strong multidisciplinary meeting focusing on the implications of new clinical findings in prostate cancer and how they can be applied to the daily practices or Urologists and Oncologists. Thanks to all those who attended the meeting, came to our symposium or visited us on our stand. We look forward to seeing you next year! #PROSCA #WeMakeItBetter #AccordHealthcare (S)
