Action For Humanity - International
Non-profit Organizations
AFH is an international, impartial NGO working across the globe. When emergencies strike, we mobilise, respond & restore
About us
We are Action For Humanity. We provide aid and assistance to people affected by natural and man-made disasters. As an NGO we are guided by our drive to help others, not profit. When emergencies strike, we act to ensure to save lives and protect the vulnerable. When the emergency is over, we stay and help restore lives. We were founded in 2011 in the UK by a group of doctors whose sole focus was to provide assistance and aid to those devastated by conflict. For over a decade we have built an expertise in responding to humanitarian needs to benefit the most vulnerable people affected by conflict, disasters and extreme poverty.

In a time where the greatest threat to international development comes from within our own government, the resignation of Anneliese Dodds from her role as Minister for International Development and for Women and Equalities serves as a rare demonstration of political integrity. Her departure raises serious concerns about the extent of the damage caused by the recent gutting of the UK's Official Development Assistance budget. The UK government's short-sighted decision to gut the aid budget by 40% will leave millions of vulnerable people without life-saving humanitarian support. Our Director of Advocacy and Communications, Charles Lawley تشارلز لاولي, spoke with BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine about the dangerous precedent that is being set.

"Slashing what remains of the aid budget helps no one" The reckless decision to cut aid funding will fuel global instability and deepen the suffering of millions who rely on the UK’s generosity. Our Director for Advocacy and Communications, Charles Lawley تشارلز لاولي, spoke with Channel 5 News yesterday evening.

🔴 Action For Humanity CEO, Othman Moqbel, reacts to dangerous UK aid cuts 🔴 "By slashing aid spending, the UK government is choosing to turn its back on humanitarian values. This reckless decision will fuel global instability and deepen the suffering of millions who rely on the UK’s generosity. This is not happening in isolation; it comes at a time when global powers are locked in a race to the bottom, competing to cut crucial support to the world's most vulnerable. These cuts are a massive leap towards greater division. We urge the UK government to reconsider this deeply damaging policy and restore its commitment, before millions are forced into further suffering and our position on the global stage is irrevocably changed."

The lives of 10.6 million women in Syria were placed on hold during 14 years of war. By providing women in the region with livelihood skills training and support, we're strengthening resilience and helping women play the role that they want in the development of Syria. https://lnkd.in/e57YUAeH

Together with Startup Syria, we’ll be hosting thousands of entrepreneurs, innovators, and change makers from Syria and beyond to host a week long “hackathon”! Starting tomorrow, this first-of-its-kind initiative will look to develop solutions for the country’s most pressing challenges following the fall of the Assad regime late last year. These ideas will be formulated into projects that can be implemented to help the war-torn country and its population. Ahead of tomorrow’s launch, our International Director of Communications and Advocacy, Charles Lawley تشارلز لاولي has an important message for our participants:

"It's their right to celebrate" I've only worked on the crisis in Syria for 18 months, alongside humanitarians that have campaigned for 15 years, and Syrians who have fought for 50. We're facing a critical point in Syria's future, and while it's important to acknowledge the genuine and monumental issues that the country still contends with, we should still recognise the years that people have suffered to reach this celebration. Last month, Action For Humanity - International hosted a liberation concert for the Syrian community in Manchester. Middle East Eye's Deana Hassanein Soni spent hours making sure that every voice was heard: https://lnkd.in/g937FTiN
