-Celebrating Samanpiid- This week, the communities we work with in Ghana are celebrating the Samanpiid festival—a vibrant tradition that brings people together in joy, gratitude, and unity. From football tournaments and making music, to dancing and sharing ‘pito’ (a traditional beer made from guinea corn), Samanpiid is a time to give thanks and honour remarkable contributions to the community. Hardworking individuals and organisations are celebrated for their efforts in education, child protection, health, advocacy, and philanthropy. About us
We believe in the rights of all children, everywhere and that they should be valued, protected and met by all. We exist to make this the reality for children in northern Ghana, where more than half of all families live in poverty and need our support to give their children the protection, health and education they need to escape poverty for good. Our work is entirely led by local staff with a simple approach of listening to their communities and empowering them to make sustainable changes themselves. We work with all levels of society from parents and community groups, to the government and private sector to so that child protection, education and health systems work for all children, but especially those most at risk, including children without a safe home, children living with disabilities and girls. ......................................... For every child in northern Ghana, we want to ensure: Education - a quality education for the chance to escape poverty and secure a bright future Child Protection - safety, nurture and protection from harm Health - good health and well-being to live life to the full ......................................... Consultant Opportunity: Transforming Children’s Education in Northern Ghana AfriKids is seeking an experienced consultant to help us define a breakthrough approach towards supporting children’s education in northern Ghana. With unprecedented numbers of children entering inadequate education systems, tomorrow’s leaders are not receiving the education they need to develop and thrive. While many organisations focus on in-classroom solutions, we are exploring whether focusing outside the classroom could be the key to sustainable, impactful change. We envision this consultancy unfolding in two phases: Evidence Review: Assess the impact of engaged and active communities on children’s education outcomes. Pilot Development: Help us design a pilot project to refine a model that empowers communities to Rise Up for their children’s education.
