So... I ran my first half marathon on Sunday in Ilkley. Note I said "first". I really enjoyed it. I ran with my friend who, thankfully, overcame prostate cancer 2 years ago 🙏🏼 Great pace, great company and very well organised. I'm sure I'll be back again doing something very similar soon. 🏃🏼♂️💨
Today, we were privileged to welcome one of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity team into our factory to deliver a powerful message, via his own lived experiences, to our workforce about the importance of looking after your Mental Health and being aware of others. There are no photos here. We didn’t want the employees to feel like this was a “tick box” exercise or a social media driven event. That’s not why we do these things. We do them because we care. However, we did feel the need to share this online, as there are many companies out there like ours, that will hopefully organise something like this for their staff in the future. If you didn’t know, The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families. A crucial element of their strategy is to provide a wide range of free and widely available pro-active resources to support the industry; this extends to us in manufacturing, supplying products to the construction industry. The Building Safety Act 2022 Aire-Valley Architectural (Aluminium) Ltd are always making steps to ensure compliance. Here's how we're making those advances: Organisation Compliance: We are dedicated to maintaining the highest industry recognised certification and standards. Constructionline Gold, CHAS Elite and also committed to improving our in-house Quality Control and Health & Safety procedures / standards. Staff Competence: We are constantly training our staff in skills and through experiences relevant to their specific roles. Product Compliance: Our technical knowledge of the systems we use guarantees compliance from tender stage through to completion. The products we propose are always fully tested with certification and data to back them up. AOV smoke ventilation windows can be manufactured and installed in house to EN12101-2 SHEV’s, which is a legal requirement. We are also audited and certified by a third party which allows us to provide Q-Marked PAS24 level Security windows, doors, and curtain walling. Supply Chain Compliance: We select from a small pool of tried, tested, and trusted suppliers that have worked with us for many, many years. Suppliers we work with can and must demonstrate full compliance. The Golden Thread: By ensuring that essential information about our products is captured and made available to those involved in the design, construction, and management of buildings, we help to contribute to The Golden Thread. All information is stored digitally. Gateways: Under the new building control system regulations, the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) – which is the Health & Safety Executive – will become the building control body for new higher-risk buildings. We have always offered free of charge consultation and advice on projects and continue to do so. In our recent experience, Tier 1 contractors specifically, have taken this on board, and we are seeing an increase in Early Engagement. To the point where we are obtaining small design orders to progress designs, some 12 months in advance of being on site. We will definitely be attending in the future and hope to join the initiative as a business to both give and receive support with like minded H&S driven people / businesses 🏗️👷
