About us
The Alternative Credit Council (ACC) is a global body that represents asset management firms in the private credit and direct lending space. It currently represents 250 members that manage over US$2 trillion of private credit assets. The ACC is an affiliate of AIMA and is governed by its own board which ultimately reports to the AIMA Council. ACC members provide an important source of funding to the economy. They provide finance to mid-market corporates, SMEs, commercial and residential real estate developments, infrastructure as well the trade and receivables business. The ACC’s core objectives are to provide guidance on policy and regulatory matters, support wider advocacy and educational efforts and generate industry research with the view to strengthening the sector's sustainability and wider economic and financial benefits. Alternative credit, private debt or direct lending funds have grown substantially in recent years and are becoming a key segment of the asset management industry. The ACC seeks to explain the value of private credit by highlighting the sector's wider economic and financial stability benefits.

The ACC was pleased to join other trade associations in calling for holistic reform of the EU Securitisation framework. Read our statement here https://lnkd.in/gTNpuQ_q Securitisation has a vital role to play in driving growth, enhancing EU competitiveness, and supporting the Savings and Investments Union. We welcome the European Commission’s comprehensive approach to reviewing the framework and believe that coordinated reforms can unlock the full potential of securitisation while addressing existing regulatory and prudential challenges. Earlier this year, the ACC published a position paper, ‘Reviving the EU securitisation market’, outlining how regulatory reform can support the European capital market. The ESG Integrated Disclosure Project (ESG IDP) has taken significant steps forward with an updated reporting template and a strengthened executive leadership team. The updated template incorporates metrics from the ESG Data Convergence Initiative, aligning with global standards and improving accessibility through macro and non-macro enabled versions. These updates aim to enhance ESG transparency and consistency across private credit and syndicated loan markets. The ACC co-leads the ESG IDP alongside the LSTA and Principles for Responsible Investment, and we congratulate the incoming executive leadership team—Jeff Cohen, CAIA Cohen as Chair, Brittany Agostino and Jeannie Cho as Vice-Chairs, and Michael Kashani as Chair Emeritus—on their new roles in advancing this important work. The ACC greatly welcomed the opportunity to respond and provide feedback to the European Commission on the Securitisation Regulation. We were also happy to see many proposals from our position paper ‘Reviving the EU securitisation market’ published earlier this year, reflected within the consultation, particularly around: - Allowing AIFMs to sponsor securitisations; - Introducing a more proportionate approach towards due diligence, transparency and reporting; - More risk-based capital requirements for insurers; and - Clarifying the scope of the Securitisation Regulation. Securitisation will play a vital role boosting European capital market and we welcome the European Commission's comprehensive approach towards their review of the framework. Want to learn more?
