Bring on Southern Manufacturing & Electronics next year! We are back on stand J80 and cant wait! Southern Manufacturing & Electronics show, held from 4-6 February 2025 at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre. What a beauty! Nice to see the first Aqube MV8 Twin from kolb Cleaning Technology GmbH installed and cleaning in the UK! This unit is especially unique because of its independent chambers and capacity for two stencils at once, significantly increasing throughput for a very similar footprint to a single capacity system.... and to be honest it just looks great! In the UK & Ireland, there has been a growing interest in automatic stencil cleaning solutions, as people move away from manual cleaning because of the variability of the human operation. With apertures smaller than ever and designs becoming more complex of PCBAs and therefore stencils, ensuring a thorough high quality clean on the stencil can make a big different in production yield. This MV8 unit is capable of handling stencils, squeegees and misprints in a single unit with dedicated carriers for each purpose. For many sites, cleaning the stencil used in the shift is the last thing that the line operators need to do before clocking off and this unit halves the time many have to wait. PVA are known for their outstanding conformal coating capability, but in truth they are much more…. PVA are a dispensing and curing solution provider, that just happen to have a brilliant coating capability in its range! The video below shows a whole host of processes where PVA can support customer applications, from coating to jetting and all manner of unique needs in between. The UK & Ireland over the last years, has seen a large swell of investment into area that have been traditionally manual in the region as labour costs have risen and the competition for operators has become fiercer and dispensing and coating has been one of those processes ripe for the picking. Many of these applications require operators to wear PPE and are highly repetitive but currently manual tasks which leave them open to be optimised on throughput consistency, variability of outcome and cost when compared to an automatic process. Often ROI can be under 2 years for many CEMs and even faster in an OEM setting when brining this process inhouse. I always love celebrating our customer investments, and this is another one me and the team are very proud of with new customer G&B Electronics, a brilliant CEM in Bordon investing into their first 3D AOI🎉 G&B are an ambitious CEM and their investment in a Koh Young Europe GmbH, Alpha HS+ 3D AOI, is testament to their desire to offer their customers, only the very highest quality in production. Using KSMART SPC and having their production data at their finger tips, will allow them not just to catch any possible NG, but use data to improve their production yields. Through hole soldering automation, if you are ignoring it, you are being left behind in the variable output and unprofitable past! The spotlight is firmly on sites as they struggle to find appropriately skilled labour and want to win business to assemble THT parts on customer contracts profitably. A huge congratulations to Active-PCB Solutions Ltd and their investment into their 2nd Koh Young Europe GmbH, Alpha HS+ AOI! For Altus, we are aiming for long term successful partnerships with our customers and the relationship has gone from strength to strength since their first investment with us in 2022. This includes several additional processes support by Altus at their reading facility. After migrating from 2D to 3D inspection, the new AOI will be utilised inline for real time analysis of production and as a process optimiser for first pass yield. X-ray component counting is all the rage in the UK & Ireland in 2024, and it's brilliant to see this inline unit installed and counting 💪 As far as we know, this is the first inline X-ray component counter in the UK, taking counting components to new levels of automation. This unit is loaded with full cassettes of either 7inch or 13inch reels which are counted via X-ray, and then relabelled using the inbuilt automatic label robot, before being ejected in the same cassettes at the other end. It has been great working with Scienscope International, because unlike some of the competitors on the market who just specialise in one process, Scienscope have a full suite of processes for smart racking, component counting and goods in scanning, being a one stop shop!
