Did you know that the automatically closed-loop pickup correction optimizes the component pickup❓ Component pick-ups are always associated with certain tolerances. In most cases, the component is picked up by the nozzle with a slight offset. This leads to higher reject rates when the offset is out of tolerance. Particularly in fine-pitch applications, it is important to take pick-up offset into account and to compensate for it to ensure maximum pick-up reliability and thus optimum placement quality. With automatic closed-loop pickup correction, SIPLACE placement machines detect the offset precisely and react accordingly: 🔹 Correction of the X-Y offset by adjusting the positioning parameters 🔹 Correction of the angular offset using rotary drives on every nozzle To do this, the machine precisely determines the center point of the component and nozzle and calculates the correction data from this. This data is also used when picking up the next component. The students took on our Pick and Place Challenge, competing against our placement machines to assemble plates as quickly as possible. It was an exciting competition! Did you know ... that software can automatically detect the right component pitch for 8 mm feeders? 🔧 Depending on the manufacturer or lot, the same component is supplied at different distances on the tape. The pitch variation causes problems with component pick-up if it is not taken into account in the machine settings. The station software for our SIPLACE placement machines automatically determines the pitch values for 8 mm feeders. The machine software proceeds systematically: 🔹 Iindex is set to the smallest possible pitch 🔹 First component is picked 🔹 If successful, the pitch is retained  🔹 If not successful, the pitch is gradually increased until the optimal value is found. Once automatic pitch detection has been activated in WORKS Programming, the machine adapts fully automatically to the respective component pitch, even when changing tapes. New functions increase efficiency when changing products in the DEK TQ solder paste printer: Paste Transfer and Quick Changeover Squeegee 📌 ASMPT speeds up product changes with an automation option that is as simple as it is clever: when changing a product in the solder paste printer, the solder paste remaining on the stencil to be changed must be transferred to the new one. Previously, this was done by hand using a spatula. In most cases, the entire remaining amount was not collected, and the paste was often not optimally applied to the new stencil. In addition, there was always a risk of the paste becoming contaminated or landing in the wrong place, which could lead to change to print defects that cause scrap and costly repairs. The new paste transfer unit for the DEK TQ now also simplifies this process: the paste is transferred fully automatically each time the stencil is changed, provided the process parameters allow this. To do this, the paste is collected onto a transfer unit with the squeegee and from there applied to the new stencil again with the squeegee. The system then automatically removes any paste from the underside of the paste transfer tray using the underside cleaning function. The new paste transfer system can be retrofitted to all solder paste printers on the DEK TQ platform with little effort. It not only relieves the strain on employees, but also reduces paste loss by up to 50 percent. ASMPT has also optimized the squeegee change: The squeegee, which was previously fastened with two thumb screws, is now automatically unlocked when it is removed from the machine. It can then be changed with a single movement before the holder locks automatically. This reduces the changing time by up to 50 percent. This should not be underestimated, as it is not unusual for a machine to require change to a number of changeovers during production shifts. Mechanical design also prevents the squeegee from being inserted incorrectly. Quick Changeover Squeegee can be retrofitted in approximately 30 minutes and is available for both the DEK TQ and the DEK TQ L printers. #SMT #ElectronicsManufacturing #Printing #Innovation #PCP
