The simplest way to navigate egg freezing

About us

More and more women are delaying motherhood in order to give themselves the freedom to reach education/career goals, financial stability, or to simply not feel so rushed in finding “the one”. Let’s face it, having a child is expensive these days and modern dating can be a minefield! Although having this choice is fantastic for women, trying to get pregnant after your mid-thirties can be much harder as our egg count and quality starts to rapidly decline. Amilis is on a mission to raise awareness in younger women about infertility and to help them navigate the start of their own fertility journeys, when they’re ready. Our platform provides the transparent facts about fertility and preservation treatments like elective egg freezing. We partner with the best fertility clinics in the U.K. to collect accurate data, costs and reviews and make it easier for women to find the right clinic for them via our clinic discovery platform. Overall, we are trying to break down informational and financial barriers to give women more choices when it comes to their fertility. Let’s empower women with the freedom to make an informed choice and support them along their fertility journey, whoever they are, wherever they are, whatever they choose.

  • Between 5 and 10 percent of reproductive-aged women have PCOS. So, because it’s so common, we know everything there is to know about it, right? Sigh, not quite. And, unfortunately, receiving a PCOS diagnosis can also be a bit of a challenge as well. The process involved multiple appointments and can take over a year to complete, which causes PCOS to remain under-diagnosed. The hormonal imbalance associated with PCOS impacts women’s fertility. And, because of the complicated diagnosis process, many women only begin to suspect they have PCOS when they’re struggling to get pregnant. Egg freezing is still possible with PCOS (and we have a whole slew of resources on the subject) but the issue remains—we need more knowledge and a more streamlined, accessible diagnosis process. Women deserve better. If you’re interested in learning more about egg freezing with PCOS, head to our resource centre.

Did you know that the average woman gets 450 periods during her lifetime? Depending on the length of each cycle, that means we spend between 3.7 and 8.6 years on our periods. Pretty crazy, right? We spend years enduring cramps, fatigue, hormonal ups and downs, PMS symptoms, and, let’s not forget, bleeding. All the while, we’re living our lives. We go to work, we start new companies, we have board meetings, we start families, we take care of our loved ones. Women deserve admiration and respect for simply existing while menstruating. But we don’t just exist while on our periods—we excel. So, if you’re ever feeling down or doubtful about yourself, don’t! Women are incredible and powerful and can achieve anything we put our minds to—even while bleeding.

Oestrogen is one of the most important hormones in the female body. Seriously, oestrogen levels affect wayyy more than just the menstrual cycle. That’s why it’s so frustrating to see how little women are taught about how this hormone impacts: 🌝 Our mood & brain function 🩻 Our bone health & strength 💇🏽♀️ Our skin, hair, & metabolism 🐣 And, of course, our fertility Oestrogen plays a major role in fertility and egg freezing by regulating the menstrual cycle, helping follicles mature, and indicating follicle development and ovarian response during egg freezing cycles. Curious to learn more about this powerful hormone and how to keep your oestrogen levels balanced? Check out our resource centre to dive into the details! https://lnkd.in/g_rSBSSS

Egg freezing is a very personal choice. And every person’s reason for freezing their eggs is their own. But the question that almost everyone has is: How many eggs do I need to freeze? Unfortunately, there’s no definitive one-size-fits-all answer. A host of factors weigh in and impact the success of an egg-freezing cycle. But here is the best advice we can offer: 🥚 Younger women need fewer eggs due to higher quality, while older women may need more to account for increased abnormalities 🥚 Egg quality, age, clinic success rates, ovarian stimulation protocol, and underlying health conditions all influence outcomes. 🥚 Aim to freeze 8-10 eggs in your 20s, 12-15 in your 30s, and 20-30 eggs across multiple cycles in your 40s to account for declining egg quality and quantity. Don’t you just LOVE it when you talk about something, and then—boom—it comes to life? This weekend, we had our first-ever stand at Stylist Magazine Live, and wow, what a full-circle moment! This time last year, we were dreaming about it, imagining how we’d create an in-person space to chat all things fertility and egg freezing. Fast forward, and here we are. Sure, we had our fair share of chaos—delayed materials, and a setup that had us sweating—but daaamn, it was so worth it. Getting to meet all of you IRL, talking about fertility, egg freezing, PCOS, and everything in between? Pure magic. One big takeaway? Fertility is on so many of our minds, but we often just push it aside. So you BET we’ll be doing more of these in-person touchpoints because it’s time we normalize these conversations. Let’s keep the chat going! #fertilityawareness #femtech Yasmin Baba Sarita Stefani

Quick answer to this one: probably not. But the WHO is still compiling evidence to learn more about how radio frequency electromagnetic field exposure impacts our health. Interesting, but we’re glad we don’t have to add mobile phones to our fertility concerns list. That said, we did speak with our fertility specialist Dr. Vivienne Hall to learn about what actually can impact our fertility. She told us to watch out for just three simple things: 🥚 Avoid waiting to use or freeze your eggs 🚭 Don’t smoke or vape 🍩 Avoid ultra processed foods Easier said than done, but also easier than escaping radio waves. We’ll take it.
