We were proud to welcome the UK Secretary of State for Transport Louise Haigh MP to Harlow this morning where she was able to get an insight into the role we play in the region. Local MP Chris Vince joined the visit (pictured left), alongside Arriva's Chris Burley and Alistair Hands (right). We’re excited to join next week’s Global Mobility Call 2024 in Madrid, a pivotal event in sustainable and integrated mobility across Europe! 🌍 Arriva Spain will play a leading role, with Managing Director Antonio Cendrero Querol chairing an important session with the Managing Director of Madrid’s Passenger Transport Authority Pablo Rodríguez Sardinero that will examine how passenger transport can better connect cities with their surrounding suburban and rural areas – a crucial topic for the future of seamless interconnected mobility. 🚍⚡ We’ll also be sharing key learnings from our recent electrification projects in Spain and discussing the future of AI in passenger transport.   Let’s shape a better-connected and greener Europe together! 🌱

🚆Congratulations to CrossCountry Trains! They’re launching the first-ever direct rail service linking England, Wales, and Scotland. Starting 15 December, this new route will cover 455 miles and call at 22 stations between Edinburgh and Cardiff – connecting the Scottish and Welsh capitals directly for the first time, providing great connectivity across Great Britain. 🚍⚡️ Arriva’s Thornton Heath depot is now our third fully electrified site in London, marking a major step towards a zero-emission future. By spring 2025, 109 electric buses will run from this depot, part of a £730m investment to electrify all 14 Arriva depots in London by 2030. Following the announcement of David Martin's appointment as Chair of the Arriva Board, we’re delighted to further welcome the appointment of Alexander Doll, Simon Glass and Guillaume Pepy as non-executive directors to the Arriva Board. All three bring a combination of extensive pan-European experience and deep transport sector insights and will offer a diverse set of complementary skills that align with our growth and sustainability agenda. Alexander Doll is the former Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Bahn and former Chair of DB Schenker, DB Cargo and DB Arriva; simon glass is an Operating Advisor to our Shareholder, I Squared Capital, as well as being former Deputy Group Finance Director at RBS Group and Standard Chartered; and Guillaume PEPY is the former Chair of SNCF, the French national railway company. Their expertise will be instrumental in driving a bright future for Arriva. Welcome / Willkommen / Bienvenue – we’re excited to have you on-board!

As darkness falls, our overnight servicing teams start another busy shift of cleaning, servicing, and preparing trains ready for passenger service by early tomorrow morning. Across all 6 of our depot locations we service nearly 200 vehicles each and every night, providing these services to a number of Train Operators and OEM’s throughout the rail industry. The picture below depicts a few different fleets that are serviced each night at our Crewe depot location.

It's another contract win! This time its Arriva Nederland 👏 who are awarded a new bus and train 🚍🚆 contract by the Province of Gelderland for passenger transport in the Achterhoek and Rivierenland region. The contract starts Dec 2025 and is expected to be worth around €2 billion over the maximum term of 17 years. We already have a presence in the region, but the new contract will see us growing our footprint and operating more routes, as well as replacing the bus fleet of around 100 vehicles with new, electric ⚡ buses.
