📢 Addressing Disability Discrimination in the Workplace: A Call to Action Disability discrimination in the UK workplace is a pressing issue, demanding immediate attention. With 24% of the working-age population identifying as disabled but only 53% of them in employment compared to 82% of non-disabled individuals, the disparity is glaring. This employment gap stems from systemic barriers that pervade every stage of life, from education to professional development. Addressing these barriers is not just a matter of compliance with the law - it is both a moral imperative and a business opportunity. Our latest blog, written by Russell Thompson, Co-founder of Inventum Group, discusses disability inclusion and addressing barriers faced in order to build stronger, more innovative organisations. At APSCo, we're dedicated to representing your business through our government lobbying and are committed to advising members through periods of legislative change. That's why, just a day after the Budget Announcement, we held our FD Forum to help APSCo members unpick the detail of the announcement and how it will impact the recruitment market. At the event, we heard from expert speakers including Mike Hodges Tax Partner at Saffery and William Hobbs, Head of Multi-Asset Wealth at Barclays. The forum was well-received by members, who were able to gain some understanding and clarity as we prepare for the legislative minefield following the announcement in 2025. What is an indemnity clause? An indemnity clause sets the compensation you or the other party will receive when a specific event (also called the “trigger event”) occurs. This clause can be fully customised by the parties and can cover any event they think should be protected. It can also state either a specific amount of indemnification if the event arises or overall amounts such as covering for any legal fees, administrative fees, claims, etc. For example, your clients often include an indemnity clause to cover them for potential risks of intellectual property breaches. APSCo contract templates always include an indemnity clause designed to protect your business. You can access them through our model of contract page in the link below. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dSC8KYQh #APSCo #FAQWednesday #WednesdayWisdom #APSCoMembers

In a recent interview between APSCo’s Operation Director, Samantha Hurley and Intelligent Leadership Hub founder, Ade McCormack, Ade discusses intelligent leadership in the recruitment sector. Ade says that ‘Being Intelligent’ as a business leader is more about being street smart – the ability to sense opportunities and threats, decide what to do and to then act quickly. Ade takes a perspective different from traditional leadership, shifting the focus from simply being ‘efficient’ to survival in the modern era as the world becomes increasingly disruptive. Ade discusses the key steps organisations can take to understand their current business model and how they can transform into an adaptive organisation. Join us this Thursday, December 5th, from 11am for an insightful webinar addressing the most pressing issues in social work recruitment including discussing compliance, tenders and best hiring practices. Following the webinar at 12pm, we invite you to stay for a 30-minute extended session to discuss the new Matrix compliance proposals after the main event, so make sure you have the extended time in your diary. Key discussion points include: - The enforcement of Matrix’s compliance system at an additional cost to suppliers. - Concerns over the 1% rebate requirement for using umbrella companies outside their preferred network, including APSCo affiliates. - Potential conflicts with the MSTAR Framework and implications for market competition, compliance flexibility, and financial burdens. This is an important opportunity to evaluate the potential impacts on our members and consider how to respond collectively. Cameras and microphones will be enabled for active participation and collaboration. The main event will be chaired by Jamie Trick & Chris Griffin, with a panel consisting of Chris Bryce of Freelancer & Contractor Services Association (FCSA), Fiona Brunton & Corinne Peart, and it promises to be a lively discussion.
