Our animated education video highlights strengths and differences that autistic people may experience in three areas of development: 1. Social understanding and communication 2. Flexibility, information processing and understanding 3. Sensory processing and integration The aim of the video is to empower and support the whole education workforce to recognise and understand these differences. Understanding leads to better support for autistic children and young people in education. Central to this, is recognising that the autistic spectrum is not a single line from low to high; it’s a complex combination of many overlapping characteristics. There may be some shared characteristics, but every autistic person is unique, with their own strengths, differences and needs. Watch our new video, and let us know: ❓ What you liked best about it? ❓ Who else needs to see it? The AET Parent Questionnaire is a valuable tool designed to strengthen this collaboration by gathering important insights from parents and caregivers. What will the questionnaire help you do? ✅ Open channels of communication with parents/carers ✅ Provide the opportunity for parents and carers to feel understood and have input into their child’s wellbeing and development ✅ Understand your pupil’s strengths and differences better within their home environment and to adapt strategies from home into reasonable adjustments within school.
