We recently the pleasure of welcoming Jean d’Arthury, part owner of Domaine de Terrebrune to London. In addition to a tasting with the team, several customer visits and an interview with Decanter, the highlight of the visit was our ‘Night of Bandol’s Finest Wines’ dinner at the OWO. The evening began with a mini vertical of rosé, featuring the 2023, 2022, 2019 and 2008 vintages. These are Mourvèdre-dominated rosé, with distinct minerality and elegance, supported by Grenache and Cinsault which bring a rich, structured backbone. At dinner, each wine was expertly paired with a specially crafted menu designed by renowned Chef Thierry Laborde. We began with the 2022 Bandol Blanc, (Clairette, Ugni Blanc, Bourboulenc, Rolle) which is driven by a mineral edge and floral aromatics. Guests then enjoyed the 2020, 2019, 2004 and 1998 Bandol Rouge, which was poured blind. These are classic, structured expressions of the Triassic terroir; the Mourvèdre, create wines with concentration, and remarkable elegance. What is evident of the visit is the power and elegance of the “Grands vins” from Domaine de Terrebrune range; while drinking beautifully now these are ageworthy Bandols. With special thanks to the team at Laperouse for their generous hospitality. DM us if you have any interest in these wines including allocation of library stock.
