A beautiful reminder of the true beauty that comes with being unapologetically you! When Margert Chola, from a rural village in Zambia, took part in her granddaughter, Diana Kaumba's photo shoot, neither of them expected to capture the attention of people around the world. "I didn't know I could make such an impact at this age." Ms Chola tells the BBC. The project, referred to as the 'Granny Series' aims to highlight that older people still have a lot to offer and that the memories created together can help "leave footprints for the next generation." Ms Chola hopes that her granddaughters' work will inspire people "to live their lives and not worry about being judged by society". "I cycled through nearly 150 images, adjusting prompts and settings, before finally landing on one that looked 'okay'." When Dr Samantha Pillay, set out to generate an image of a man cleaning a toilet using AI, she was surprised to see how difficult it was to find a realistic representation. However, when she flipped the prompt and asked for a woman cleaning a toilet, the results were astonishingly easier to generate. Dr. Pillay's experience was a subtle but powerful example of the gender biases baked into AI models. Generative AI models create images based on content that already exists online. The good news is that anyone who makes content has the potential to retrain AI, either directly or indirectly, and move the needle on gender representation. University student Zara Lachlan is hoping to inspire other women and set multiple world records by being the first woman and youngest person ever to row 3600 nautical miles solo and unsupported from mainland Europe to mainland South America. Whilst taking on this gruelling expedition, 21 year old Zara will be rowing for 15 hours per day for around 90 days. During this time she could face a number of challenges, including encountering orcas, marlins, sharks and even pirates. All whilst battling 20ft waves! This certainly isn't a challenge for the faint hearted, as Nicki Kelly and Team Excelsioar will know, having completed the World's Toughest Row earlier this year. Zara is aiming to set three world records, whilst raising money for two charities close to her heart, the Team Forces charity and Women in Sport. A global survey of 8,000 mothers has revealed the truth about women's experiences of returning to work after a baby, what they want and how employers are adapting to keep them! Another moment for the history books, as England fly out to Colombia to take part in the first-ever Women's Amputee World Cup ⚽ The team include women and girls from all walks of life, some of whom became amputees through cancer or accidents, while others were born with limb deficiencies. 16 year old striker, Annabel Kiki from Cannock, told the BBC: "It means so much to me and all the girls here because life can be hard for so many people and it's about what you do with it."
