🧑🎄 No Secret Santa plans? The Big Give is just around the corner! 💰 Whilst for some it’s the most wonderful time of the year, for others, the festive period highlights financial inequalities and unmet needs. Last year, 1.4 million people struggled to access period products and didn’t receive the support they needed. This holiday season, let’s make it a Festive Period for everyone. Period poverty doesn’t take a break, and neither do we. Through our campaign, Bloody Good Period aims to provide essential period products to those who need them most, ensuring that no one has to face the festive season without the support they deserve. Starting from December 3rd to December 10th, our matched fundraiser will DOUBLE all donations received during this period via Big Give. Help us reach our goal by donating from December 3rd via our Big Give fundraising page! #BloodyGoodPeriod #TheBigGive #FestivePeriod #MenstrualCharity

It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at AXA Health's event in Parliament last week, where we called on the government to prioritise women's health in the workplace - an issue close to our heart at Bloody Good Employers. Thanks for having us!

Last Tuesday we held an event in Parliament to launch our campaign to ‘Detach discomfort from womanhood’. We’ve teamed up with top women’s health charities Over The Bloody Moon, Fawcett Society and Bloody Good Period to call on the Government to prioritise women's health in the workplace. We had a great attendance, and it was clear to see that it’s an issue close to the heart of many women. It was really heartening to hear some constructive conversations and to see some important connections being made amongst attendees – men and women alike. We had some insightful speeches from Anneliese Dodds MP, Mims Davies MP, Carolyn Harris MP, Christine Jardine, Heather Smith and Dr Pallavi Bradshaw There was a real buzz in the room. 🐝 From pregnancy to the menopause, female employees can face some of life’s biggest challenges while they’re at work. In fact, around 85%* of working-age women have experienced at least four women’s health conditions. It’s time to end gender health inequality for all girls and women across the UK. 💃🏼🦸♀️ #WomensHealth #Endometriosis #MenopauseHealth   *AXA Health report ‘The consequences of neglecting women’s health in the workplace’ 2023

Today is World Toilet Day 🚽🫢 Access to toilets is a human right, yet, in the last decade we’ve lost nearly 60% of our public toilets in Britain (BTA). At Bloody Good Period we believe ease of access to toilets is fundamental in caring for your period. We need clean, safe and free public toilets for people who menstruate to care for their period properly. Lack of access can have devastating consequences for people with periods, as well as people with disabilities, older people and pregnant people, restricting their freedom and agency, and stopping them from participating in public life. As this week is also #TransAwarenessWeek we’re thinking particularly of those from the trans and non-binary community who face an even more difficult situation when it comes to accessing toilets. Toilets are being used as political football in the growing hostility towards trans people. In the last 5 years hate crime against trans people has risen by 186% (ONS) resulting in many trans people becoming more fearful of entering single-sex public spaces such as toilets. Increasingly, trans and gender non-conforming individuals are questioned as to their presence in public bathrooms, and face hostility, abuse and violence in these spaces. This causes people to avoid using public toilets, deliberately dehydrating themselves, or simply choosing to not go out and participate in public life because the experience is too anxiety inducing. Today we’re also proud to announce we've joined the London Loo Alliance, a coalition of individuals and organisations who’ve joined together to demand better and more public toilets in London. The London Assembly survey of 3,504 Londoners found that 91.3% of respondents do not feel toilet provision is adequate to meet their needs, and a recent report highlighted that where public toilets exist in London, the majority are not accessible. Age UK London’s research conducted with older Londoners found that nine in ten have considered the availability of toilets before making a journey, and over half have sometimes reduced the amount they drink before going out. Everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and included, no matter their gender, ability, or health needs. Join us in calling on the government, transport operators, businesses and others to take urgent action to improve toilet provision. #WorldToiletDay #Periods #MenstruationMatters #HumanRights #PeriodCare

The Social Enterprise sector is filled with talented, brave and ambitious women who make up a significant proportion of founders and leaders in this sector - much more than in other sectors.” We’re really proud of the achievements of the Bloody Good Employers team and our supporters.
