Blue Noun is an alternative, independent English language school (although we call it a 'hub'). We specialise in engaging English language coaching AND English for Creative Careers. What’s with the blobs? I’m not sharing my offer of Art Month (September) with an image of a person painting in Scotland. The blobs are from a photograph of a standard print test that makes sure your ink is flowing (most creatives will recognise it). When your ink is flowing, almost anything is possible (up to the limits of the machine and your imagination/skill). Painting may be an easy way to represent an artist, but it's restrictive. Following a creative practice can lead ANYWHERE and to ANYTHING. The blogs in my graphic represent the potential to make (or be) something amazing, whatever that looks like to you. (You won't know until you get here, because residencies are RESPONSIVE). Interventions, land art, and filmmaking challenges will be in the mix. I still can't believe I get to nerd out on art for a whole month! The first part of September is a creative residency for visual artists. I'd planned it months ago. Then recently, I read about the Dundee Design Festival – in particular, their designer commissions inspired by a local museum collection (so good!) and got all excited about sharing it. Designers and fans will be flooding to Dundee - a UNESCO City of Design, home to the V&A Dundee (AKA Scotland's Design Museum), the DCA (Dundee Centre for Contemporary Arts) and home of a working observatory whose dome is made out of papier maché. As if that's not enough, it's the city I got my undergraduate art degree in. I love Dundee, and I love sharing it.
