Fire Doors Save Lives

About us

Bravo2 Fire Door Inspections Ltd is owned and managed by Andy Bannon, a former Watch Commander and specialist rescue Team Leader and Instructor, with 30 years' experience with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. He has over 6 years’ experience of inspecting fire doors and started his own inspection company, Bravo2, in 2018 In that time we have carried out inspection works for major healthcare providers and national joinery companies, in addition to the numerous small local businesses we value so highly. All of our inspectors are accredited through BAFEs FireQual scheme and receive further detailed on-site training with Andy prior to starting inspecting. Continuous support and development of our inspectors is key to us at Bravo2, with the emphasis very much on teamwork, and this helps us deliver the very highest of standards and service for our clients. The fire doors within your building are an important part of its fire protection system. If they fail to work as they should in the event of a fire it could lead to serious damage or total loss of the building. It may even result in the loss of life. Therefore, it’s critical your fire doors are subject to a robust maintenance regime which should include inspection by a suitably qualified professional.

Really pleased to announce our latest specialist contractor member in Bravo2 Fire Door Inspections Ltd!! Led by the very progressive Andy Bannon this FireQual qualified company have received some fantastic feedback from a Scotland based NHS client of theirs during thier initial complaince application process, which really praised their dilligent and responsible approach to their clients requirements! What’s really important to us is also that this company is based in Fife!! They would probably never come across such companies as South West based Fire Aware FRA Compliance - but if they did, without knowing anything about each other, would immediately be able to recognise that they hold similar corporate values as each other. This is the Unity Fire Aware brings in an industry where uncertainty exists. We are massively appreciative of Bravo2 Fire Door Inspections Ltd in supporting us and have entered them into the Fire Aware community - an ever growing list of multi disciplined cross sector businesses who are unified with one commonality - to refuse the race to the bottom and uphold the safety of the end user as a first priority.

Fire Door Inspector at Bravo2 Fire Door Inspections Ltd

This is a great example of why fire door inspectors look for intumescent protection for hardware on fire doors!

Where ironmongery is concerned, hinges, latches, locks, pivots and closers on timber-based fire-resisting doors are often forgotten and can seriously undermine the fire integrity of the door set. Mann McGowan manufacture a comprehensive range of intumescent seals, gaskets and kits for door hardware, in both Interdens® and our own formulated graphite where test evidence specifies. Our high performance products insulate the timber, slow down the charring process and provide fire protection from 30 minutes to over an hour in some tests. We supply pre-cut intumescent kits for all leading makes and can custom cut to your specification. sales@mannmcgowan.co.uk for details Always refer to test evidence.

  • 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐞 ‘𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧’ 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲? If you are a facilities or building manager acting as the ‘responsible person’, you have a legal requirement under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, and its associated regulations of 2006, to ensure the safety of persons within your building from the risk of harm caused by fire. Fire doors fall within the scope of this legislation. Fully functioning fire doors are a critical part of your buildings passive fire protection system and, during a fire, will mean the safe escape of its occupants as well as the protection of the building itself. Therefore, it’s important your fire doors are subject to a robust maintenance regime which should include regular inspection by a suitably qualified professional. BS9999, which is the Code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings, recommends that your fire doors are inspected at least every 6 months, more often in high traffic areas. Our professional fire door inspectors will survey your doors and highlight issues which need to be addressed to help you achieve compliance and fulfil your legal obligations. #firesafety #firedoorinspection #firedoors #firedoorssavelifes www.bravo2.co.uk

At SDS, we believe in prioritising getting it right the first time. 👍 These images are an example of what can happen if you don’t. Unfortunately, we come across this way too often. At first glance, it may seem like a minor aesthetic issue, but in reality, it can have a variety of negative implications such as: ❌ Damaged surfaces can compromise the protective barrier against infection. ❌ The rough edges can pose a hazard to the health and safety of individuals. ❌ Incurring additional costs for hospitals due to necessary repairs or replacements. ❌ Increased downtime can disrupt the hospital's operations. Read one of our blogs which highlights the role of Postformed doorsets in infection control in healthcare environments - https://hubs.la/Q02prsDm0 #HealthcareInnovation #DoorMaintenance #DowntimeReduction

If anyone needs convincing of the importance of well maintained fire doors, let this be it. I took this footage at a recent incident we attended to show the effective compartmentation between a warehouse and its office space which allowed the company to salvage important records and servers, when the rest of the building and contents were lost. Keep your fire doors and self closing devices in good working condition - this company is thankful they did!
