We are delighted to share that Jeanne will be playing "the nation's darling" herself, Princess Naomi, in our upcoming short film, DARLING. Jeanne brings a uniquely personal perspective to the role of Naomi, the daughter of an African king and a European princess, who navigates a complex world of demands, threats, and expectations. With her background in theatre and a strong connection to the character, Jeanne comes to this project with deep experience, sincerity, and vulnerability, as our lead actor. Breaking Jar exists to change lives for the better through films and media. After much anticipation, we are delighted to announce that our next short film, DARLING, is now in the making! ✨ Set in the 1990s, and partly inspired by real events throughout the 20th century, DARLING is an original story about fame, betrayal, and finding hope in the midst of a crisis. In this short film, we will meet Naomi, the daughter of an African king and a European princess, dubbed "the nation's darling" by the press. Caught in a web of security, surveillance, and public opinion, Naomi learns that even with the whole world watching her, there are few people she can trust to have her best interests at heart. Drawn from personal experiences, inspired by family history, and built on thorough research, we are thrilled to be bringing this story to the screen in the most authentic way, to share with our own community and audiences worldwide. ONE YEAR AGO On 23rd September 2023, SPARKS MAY FLY was released! 💥 This short film was the culmination of a huge amount of work and dedication, by an amazing cast and crew, hailing from all around the UK and internationally. Together, the team created a unique world, with its own style, culture, and lore, all providing a backdrop to the deeply personal story of Horace, Jessica, and Grace. As a first-time director, there are plenty of challenges you might face during production, but what is the WORST thing that can happen? We believe the absolute worst outcome would be that your film gets made, and you never share it! 😭 There are so many benefits you will personally gain from the process of making your film - you learn new skills quickly, develop your own unique style, and get a huge sense of achievement as the project comes to life. But we've found that it's only when you release your film, and let other people see it, that the greatest impact begins. In Week 4 of Get It Made, we encourage our participants to see the value of the film they have produced, and share that film confidently with an audience.
