Really good hearing about the 'mucky' part of Great Charles Street from the team. Several parts that you don't think of when looking at how to make the parts work together in an office. Thanks to Conor Nolan for organising all the presenters for their insight. It's testament to the wider team that this project is both testing and rewarding in so many different ways.

🏗️Another Fantastic Event! 🚧 Yesterday, I attended the Building Brum Briefings, hosted by John Sisk & Son Ltd, Careys and MICHAEL J GALLAGHER CONTRACTORS LIMITED. The session explored Great Charles Street by Moda a £260M development bringing 722 apartments, with its tallest block reaching 39 storeys. The speakers Tom Wraight MCIOB, Alastair D. Maciver, Jonathan Stackhouse, and Steve Rogers shared their valuable insights on the challenges, innovations, and teamwork driving this project forward. The event concluded with a fantastic networking lunch at the Indian Brewery, full of engaging conversations and new connections. Thanks to Building Brum for an excellent lunchtime learning session on the construction of Moda Great Charles Street. There were some really good examples of how complex the delivery of city centre schemes can be from John Sisk & Son Ltd and other contractors. Certainly SBK Consulting Ltd approved the content of the talk, as there was lots of discussion of concrete, piles, civil & structural engineering. The speakers from John Sisk & Son Ltd, Careys, and MICHAEL J GALLAGHER CONTRACTORS LIMITED talked through the challenges of the project, but the over-riding theme was the collaboration to overcome these to deliver a successful project. As Transport Planners, it's easy to get wrapped up in the wonderful world of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans during the early stages of a scheme when many of the issues we're tackling feel slightly academic, and any realisation of the colourful masterplan sat in front of you doesn't quite reconcile with the cold and windswept field you've just been walking around!
