It has been a week since we hosted our first ESG roundtable “Navigating the climate crisis within the built environment: The roadmap to creating sustainable homes” chaired by Kirsty Weakley, Head of Content at the Local Government Chronicle. During the event, we discussed the biggest barriers that our industry faces in increasing the volume of energy-efficient homes being built and in retrofitting more of our homes. We would like to thank our attendees for coming along and speaking so passionately on the day. Watch our video from the day to see the highlights from the morning's event captured by our in-house digital team📹 #COP29 #SustainableHousing #Sustainability #ESI #ESG #propertypr

Client Dandara has recently issued its first Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) report, showcasing the significant strides it is taking as a business to reduce its impact on the environment and enhance the benefits it brings to local communities. The report comes as Dandara continues to expand its operations throughout the UK, with ambitious plans to double in size within the coming years, completing its transformation from a regional to a national housebuilder. Lesley Treacy, Head of ESG at Dandara comments: “As Dandara continues to expand operations in the UK, ensuring that we are accountable for both our social and environmental impact is vital. Our new reporting will ensure that we can continue to make progress – and set new standards for the future. Through working collaboratively with departments across the business, great sustainable strides have been made in the design, construction and operation of the new homes we build.” If you’re interested in how our Environmental and Social Impact Communications team can help you, please get in touch today. With house prices growing across the London commuter belt, research shows that the average buyer could save thousands on their home by moving just one stop along the Northwestern train line! Zoopla has revealed that in Berkhamsted semi-detached homes have sold for £738,594 in the last 12 months, compared to Leighton Buzzard - just one stop along the Northwestern line - where the average detached home sold for £488,738. It is no surprise that Leighton Buzzard has proved popular with buyers, particularly with its convenient travel links into London. Client Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes North Thames, Sales and Marketing Director, Marc Woolfe, discusses why homebuyers should look a little further along the tracks for their next home. We cannot work in silos when it comes to sustainability; it requires more joined up thinking. Yesterday morning, Building Relations PR hosted its first ESG roundtable 'Navigating the climate crisis within the built environment: The roadmap to creating sustainable homes' chaired by Kirsty Weakley, Head of Content at the Local Government Chronicle. Attendees spoke passionately about the biggest barriers they face in increasing the volume of energy-efficient homes being built and in more homes being retrofitted. These challenges include: 🏚️A lack of skilled workers 🏚️Limited uptake and financial incentives for homeowners 🏚️Inconsistent policies to mandate net-zero homes 🏚️Outdated national standards, such as EPCs that urgently need reform. Key recommendations to the Government included urgent upgrades to the National Grid, changes to water efficiency labels, a green levy on electricity bills to gas, funding incentives to retrofitting, as well as revokes to the ministerial standards among many more. Notably, just a third of those in the room believe we can reduce our latest emissions target set by the Labour Government (81% by 2035). Thank you to all our roundtable delegates who joined us. Key takeaways from the discussions around the table will soon be available to read via Local Government Chronicle.
