“Local authorities will be crucial in this journey and require the necessary data, capacity, funding and powers to deliver energy efficiency improvements to homes most in need.” Jane Goddard, Deputy CEO of BRE. Today, we launched BRE’s briefing looking into the priorities for the Warm Homes Plan, outlining a path to upgrading the UK’s housing stock and calling on all levels of Government to increase the uptake of energy efficiency improvements. While sharing the fantastic news that for the first time in history over half of British homes have energy performance ratings of at least EPC C, the report also highlights a significant number of EPC E, F and G homes still in need of targeting to mitigate high costs and health risks to homeowners across England. "In the last two years alone, we've certified nearly 100 multifamily assets. What's exciting is not just the geographic spread, but also the diversity of multifamily types. It really shows how BREEAM delivers value to these assets." BREEAM’s U.S. Director of Operations, Breana Wheeler, recently joined host Laura Calugar on Multi-Housing News’ Mission Success podcast. In the episode, Breana discusses #BREEAMUSA’s remarkable growth over the past decade, particularly in the multifamily space, and shares her perspectives on #SustainabilityStandards, #NetZero carbon emissions, and the evolving pathway toward a more sustainable multifamily real estate industry in 2025 and beyond. We're delighted to be part of this project that aims to develop solutions that will enable the retrofitting of one million homes by 2030. Read more about our involvement here: https://lnkd.in/dySdZTz2
"Driving meaningful change in the retrofit sector requires prioritising trust as a foundation for collaboration [and] relational factors—such as empathy, integrity, and shared goals—are crucial for fostering successful partnerships." As part of our Innovate UK #TransformER project to tackle retrofit's biggest barriers, we issued an industry-wide questionnaire last year to gauge current perceptions of collaboration and levels of trust in the sector. Culture change lead Stéphanie Ah Tchou has spent time diving deep into the results to create a research paper that will help us inform the design of a culture change programme. Check out our top 5 high-level insights below and in the carousel! You can also find a link to a blog with further detail in the comments, and we've re-opened the survey so you can have your say too. *Please note these insights are based on a small sample size and represent only the views of the people who answered the questionnaire. We do not claim they paint an objective view of the state of the industry.* 1️⃣ Building trust requires more than just technical capability 2️⃣ Relationships between people ‘make or break’ successful partnerships 3️⃣ Multiple factors influence enjoyable working relationships 4️⃣ Rethinking ways of working could address systemic challenges 5️⃣ Strengthening shared goals and values across organisations is essential.
