Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) Day. The theme for this year is "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future." This theme recognizes the important role that persons with disabilities play in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all. By adopting the colour purple during this day, individuals and organisations show their commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality for disabled people. Although Autism is not a learning disability, it is estimated that about 50% of people with autism may also have a learning disability. A learning disability is a neurological condition that affects a person’s ability to process, understand, or retain information, which can make it challenging for them to learn new things or perform certain tasks. Students at Southlands School welcomes Pete from Commando Joe’s to run some fantastic, active gym sessions. The focus of these sessions was to develop resilience, determination and communication during a task set out within the gym. The task involved students working together to gather and arrange plastic balls to create a human chain around the hall, that went over different objects. Students collaborated and communicated really well during the activity and thoroughly enjoyed the session. Thank you Commando Joe's See comments below for more information. #TeamWork #Gym #Exercise #GroupWork #Collboration #Resilience
