  • Today is Care Day, and we would like to share the inspiring story of student JJ at Cambian Dilston College. JJ joined the college just over a year ago, arriving as a reserved and cautious young man who required a highly individualised approach to his learning. Initially, JJ demonstrated hesitance in engaging with new activities and exploring unfamiliar spaces within the college. With ongoing care and support, JJ has developed vital life skills and has established strong, positive relationships with staff, which underpin his continued success. His growing trust and willingness to engage extended to activities outside the classroom, such as venturing out in the college bus— is something he would not have considered upon arrival. Staff employed autism-specific approaches, including TEACCH, visuals, and social stories, to support his progress. We are delighted to see JJ's progress and he continues to surprise staff with his achievements! • We are absolutely delighted to share the news about one of our talented students – student C, who recently achieved the highest Grade possible to obtain in GCSE Art amongst other great results. Student C thoroughly enjoys and is brilliant at photography, taking fabulous shots of real life nature and wildlife. His real passion however is Aircraft photography, and he often captures enigmatic photos of airplanes spotted in the Lake District. When the Kendal Town Council saw his amazing work, and how beautifully student C captured shots of nature in and around Kendal, they promoted his photos on their Facebook page. Student C was then contacted by Furness Building Society, who loved his photography skills, and offered student C the opportunity to shadow their company photographer. His photos were so fabulous that they used his photos as part of their rebrand and relaunch, and gifted him with his very own professional camera! An amazing talent, we are incredibly proud of student C! Find a link to the full story in the comments below. #GCSEArt #PhotographySkills #IncredibleTalent #StudentSuccess #RemarkableAchievement
