🌟 Net Zero & Clean Energy Unlocking North West Economic Growth Yesterday brought the opportunity to attend the North West Future of Energy Conference at the impressive new Ebrington Hotel in Derry. This collaborative event, organised by Derry Chamber and Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, provided valuable insights into the Region's net-zero transition journey. The conference featured enlightening presentations and panel discussions examining clean energy infrastructure deployment in the North West. Leaders from both industry: SSE Renewables, SONI, ESB, Utility Regulator NI, Vestas, Foyle Port & education: North West Regional College (NWRC) and Donegal ETB contributed their perspectives. While Jamie Delargy providing skilled moderation of the discussion. Innovate UK Catalyses Telecommunications-Enabled Decarbonisation Last week, Cambium LLP facilitated a dynamic workshop on behalf of Innovate UK, bringing together innovative businesses funded through Innovate UK's Net Zero Living Programme. These businesses are developing ideas aimed at delivering value to the telecommunications sector and supporting the UK's decarbonisation efforts. Key attendees included Nicolas Wallet and Alex Watkins from Innovate UK, alongside Richard Foggie from Innovate UK Business Connect. The session provided a forum to share perspectives on the innovation process, discuss the potential of #5G, #6G, data analytics, and #AI as enablers of faster decarbonisation across UK economic sectors, and explore the value of closer collaboration between telecommunications and IT businesses in supporting the UK's net zero journey. We were pleased to receive valuable contributions from John Okas of Real Wireless, Tom Carpenter of Mycelium Networks, Sarthak Sethi of FlexiPhone, and Mike Bonaventura from Cambium LLP. Their insights broadened our understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this crucial area. We will continue conversations with other members of the Net Zero Telco cohort, including: Integrated Systems Engineering, Murcott Energy Ltd, Novacene, Orion Technologies Ltd, and Tagntell Technology. Our aim is to understand how their innovations can support the transition to net zero and the increasing role of telecommunications in that evolution. The dialogues thus far have revealed promising opportunities for collaborative innovation between the IT and telecommunications sectors, addressing key challenges in the net zero transition. The Campus Technology Hub and the STFC Hartree Centre supported by colleagues from STFC, led a highly impactful #5G Ecosystem Workshop yesterday at Daresbury Laboratory, bringing together over 40 participants from local government, industry, and the telecommunications sector. The workshop gathered requirements and ideas for innovative next generation 5G use cases across both the public and private sectors. We were delighted by the high level of engagement and enthusiasm from all involved.   A special thank you goes out to David Bogg Prof Richard Harding David Meredith Abbie Lawrence Chris Founds Daniel Clayton and the “Barcelona Bench” for their invaluable contributions.   Cambium LLP was pleased to support this important initiative, with our team facilitating discussions.
