The #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek theme this year is ‘Educate. Advocate. Act now’ 💉💊🔬 PACE (Pathways to Antimicrobial Clinical Efficacy) is acting now. This week it has announced the first cohort of projects to receive support from its first funding competition. The competition sought novel, early-stage antibacterial therapeutic projects with transformational potential. Of the 171 applications from 34 countries, 22 were supported to develop full project plans. The first successful projects are being announced this week, with more to follow in the coming months. The UK’s life sciences research base is world-leading and we are pleased that two UK projects are in the first cohort. PACE is a collaboration between Innovate UK, LifeArc and Medicines Discovery Catapult which aims to accelerate early-stage translational innovation to tackle AMR. The Swiss life sciences industry, particularly in the Basel region, is a world leader and the driving force of the Swiss economy, housing some 800 life sciences companies. GBIP Sweden – AMR Taking place next March is the market visit to Sweden involving a delegation of companies working in a range of AMR fields, including diagnostics and phage therapy. Sweden is an ideal collaborator for UK businesses as the Swedish Government has adopted an updated strategy to combat AMR, comprising seven One Health objectives which closely reflect UK strategic ambitions. #AMR #WAAW
