It was an honor to share the stage at #SustPack2025 with such knowledgeable panelists— Steve Marko (Tillamook), Kelly Murosky (Unilever), and Thaxton Lipscomb (Kimberly-Clark). Each brought unique insights into the challenges of designing circular packaging for a circular economy— an evolving system that still operates within the constraints of a largely linear model... It’s clear that packaging professionals and conference attendees are working hard to move the needle, but the macro circular systems within which packaging serves products, customers and consumers, still have a long way to go, and our influence over them isn’t always as impactful as we’d like... A huge thank you to Scott Byrne for stepping in last minute as moderator and asking thought-provoking questions! Looking forward to continuing these critical conversations over the next few days and sharing how Cambridge Design Partnership is helping clients balance profitability with the increasing need to adopt more circular business practices. #SustainablePackaging #CircularEconomy #SustPack2025

  • More exciting news on Sustainable Packaging!   Our friends at Pulpex have announced their £62M Series D funding to scale this sustainable packaging technology company. This marks a notable step forward in tackling single-use plastic waste challenges towards circular economies.   This has been an exciting and fast-paced journey, from early due diligence and process development rigs in our labs to setting up the automated short-run manufacturing line in nearby Sawston. Today, we continue to help our multinational clients across consumer and healthcare sectors tackle sustainable packaging challenges, translating corporate goals and regulatory compliance into actionable outcomes.   🎥 Watch our collaboration with Pulpex and how we helped accelerate this project towards key milestones. #SustainablePackaging #Innovation #CircularEconomy #FutureOfPackaging #Sustainability

  • As Parkinson’s Disease progresses, it becomes increasingly complex to treat. The main challenge? 🔹 Patients experience motor fluctuations between two highly disabling states: OFF, where they are unable to move, and hyperkinetic, where they move uncontrollably. 🔹 Patients typically spend at least 50% of their waking hours oscillating between these two states. The solution? 💊 As Krai Chatamra, Vice President of Clinical Development at Intrance Medical Systems, explains: “Preventing patients experiencing such disabling states can be achieved by using a drug delivery system that can precisely regulate the plasma level of levodopa within this narrow therapeutic window.” Learn more about the nuances of Advanced Parkinson’s Disease (APD) in this article written by Krai Chatamra and Steve Augustyn, Deputy Head of Drug Delivery at Cambridge Design Partnership, which explores the necessity of advanced therapies that provide consistent symptom control to improve patient outcomes and enable a more independent lifestyle. • Change is coming…   Through our work across consumer and healthcare industries, we see first-hand the pressures that Plastic Waste Reduction Directives, EPR regulations, and plastic taxes are having on product innovation, driving businesses to rethink product design, manufacturing, and supply chains to remain relevant and competitive.   What’s clear is that organizations need greater visibility and understanding into the downstream impact of packaging decision, to make informed decisions upfront. The most effective strategies go beyond reducing plastic in visible components - they integrate sustainability design into packaging, transportation, and the entire supply chain.   🌍 Design for Sustainability is at the core of our work to inform client transformation: ✅ Develop new products with sustainability built in from the start ✅ Adapt existing products by turning required changes into strategic opportunities ✅ Reassess legacy products - innovating in sustainability while delivering superior user experience, managing unit cost and differentiating from competitors   But sustainability isn't just about design. The real challenge is in manufacturing , where material changes, process redevelopment, and supply chain complexity must align to make sustainability feasible without compromising product function or cost.   The most effective strategies go beyond reducing plastic in visible components - they reflect Systems Thinking, joining sustainable circular strategies with design, manufacturing, transportation, and the entire supply chain.   At Cambridge Design Partnership, we’re partnering with clients to navigate these challenges, balancing regulatory compliance with innovation and operational efficiency. By taking this approach to sustainable design and manufacturing, organizations can turn change into competitive advantage. How is your organization tackling these shifts? Get in touch with our team to discuss your sustainability priorities. #Sustainability #DesignForSustainability #ManufacturingInnovation #PlasticReduction #CircularEconomy

It was an honor and a great pleasure to welcome the JETRO Startup X-Hub team to Cambridge Design Partnership today. I learned so much about the new wave of technologies emerging from Japan, with the potential to transform some of the sectors we’re working in. CDP provided coaching and advice on how brands and technologies we’ve supported have successfully transitioned from East to West, thanks to the expertise of Dr Neil Campbell . We were also privileged to host Zoë Loughlin from Canopy (CISL) , who have developed an outstanding program for the X-Hub cohort. My friend and colleague Jayna Jogia offered insightful perspectives on systems thinking for more sustainable solutions, in the context of our new partnership with Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). The POWER OF PARTNERSHIPS remains a core belief and way of working at CDP. In a world that is increasingly divided, I take heart that Cambridge is an internationally renowned center of learning, we must uphold this tradition. If our best hope for a more sustainable future lies in technology and innovation, then we must work harder than our politicians to foster meaningful, lasting connections that drive positive change.
