Although I don’t often post here, I feel strongly about sustainability and hope more people will recognise the value behind these words.
I’m feeling proud and grateful to be part of the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub’s continuing mission to support leaders as they work together to tackle the greatest challenges of our time and help build a more sustainable, inclusive economy. It really is a privilege to play even a small part in shaping a better future.
Yesterday, our Shott Scale Up Accelerator cohort took part in a workshop led by the brilliant Viola Jardon, and her insights on sustainability were genuinely eye-opening. This wasn’t about ticking boxes or reciting buzzwords—it was about having a clear framework 🕸️ to guide real progress, shifting our mindset from words to actions, and recognising that
▶️ business success is influenced by so much more than just the product itself. ◀️
For me, the key takeaways were:
❗ Sustainability must be at the heart of business strategy, not just an afterthought.
🔭 True innovation means looking at whole systems, not just single issues.
♾️ Every day is “day one”—it’s never too late to start improving.
Yes, we’re not perfect. But the point is to keep moving forward, learning, and doing better - together. Let’s turn our hopes into tangible steps and work towards a future that belongs to everyone.
