  • Cambridge Pixel is proud to have supported this innovative solution, led by Raytheon UK, that uses a laser weapon to defend against flying drones. Cambridge Pixel were selected by Raytheon UK to provide the graphical operator interface for their directed energy weapon demonstrator. Directed energy weapons are a key emerging technology being considered for protection of UK armed forces from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern battlefields. The Laser Directed Energy Weapon System (LDEW) system uses a 3D radar to detect targets which are then presented on the Cambridge Pixel user interface, along with graphics showing the laser effector location and orientation against a map underlay background. The British Army has fired a laser weapon from an armoured vehicle for the first time, successfully destroying flying drones. The directed energy weapon demonstrator was developed through our collaboration with Dstl – known as Team Hersa – and an industry consortium led by Raytheon UK. It’s success will now help inform future conversations about developing lasers for UK Armed Forces. Watch the weapon action at Radnor Range in mid-Wales:

  • 💡 What is Slew-to-Cue, and Why Does It Matter? In today's defence, security and surveillance systems, speed and precision are paramount. This is where Slew-to-Cue technology comes into play, a critical capability that enhances situational awareness and response times by seamlessly coordinating sensors and cameras. Slew-to-Cue enables a system to automatically direct a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera or effector system to the exact position of a detected radar target or a track of interest. This reduces human workload and ensures that operators can focus on what really matters: interpreting data and making informed decisions. At Cambridge Pixel, we’ve been empowering systems integrators and engineers with the building blocks needed to implement Slew-to-Cue functionality. By combining our world-class radar tracking software and sensor integration tools, our customers can achieve: 🔹 Rapid response times: automated control means no manual searching. 🔹 Improved accuracy: precise alignment between radar and camera feeds. 🔹 Scalability: solutions that work across multiple radars, cameras, and platforms. Whether you're developing defence systems for critical asset protection or managing coastal surveillance, our software modules simplify the complexities of sensor integration, allowing you to create robust and interoperable systems. Slew-to-Cue is available in a number of our products, including: SPx Camera Manager: Priority-based sharing of PTZ video cameras 👉 https://lnkd.in/etyQsBcc RadarWatch: Monitor Maritime Traffic 👉 https://lnkd.in/eeWHCkca VSD: Operator Display for Security, Surveillance, Military C2 & C-UAS. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dyNmjmh Interested in how Slew-to-Cue could enhance your next project?
